50 year old. First symptom was burn/sting in urethra at rest or just walking around. Slight burn with urination. Had a night of drinking and my bladder was on fire. Urgent care next day. Cipro (couldn’t handle the side affects)completely destroyed my stomach and might have given insomnia permanently. Dx by Urology with prostatitis. Digital exam nothing of note. Urination is fine with flow. Get up once a night to pee. Many other antibiotics like everyone else. Side affects with all of them. It’s only been for 3 months but wow the worst 3 months of my life. What I’m left with now is pelvic pains mostly in left groin area but can go to right side. Penis pains at tip mostly, Anal discomfort. My main issue is at night when I try to sleep I get heat flashes that seem to originate in the pelvis and rush my whole body. That and insomnia are making life rough. I also still gets pelvis pains during the day. Everything seems to get worse at night for me. I haven’t read anyone else getting the hot flashes or much insomnia. I feel I have CPPS and not prostatitis that the doc dx me with after hearing two symptoms and never verifying infection before rx antibiotics. Any help or thoughts on my symptoms would be very much appreciated. Thank you

Try short term doxylamine (Sleep Aid) for insomnia. Does sound like CPPS, although hot flashes and insomnia are not typical at all, and may be related to something else. There are lots of hints and tips here to help you with the CPPS. Welcome!

Your symptoms dont really seem to correlate to an inflamed prostate. Normal flow, no nocturia(once a night is not abnormal), no significant pain on DRE.

Permanent insomnia from Cipro is unheard of, dont freak yourself out. Are the hot flashes accompanied by intense feelings of anxiety? I know that if i am in a panic mode, my body will feel flushed with heat.

But it does sound like CPPS. Your penile pain is most likely coming from an irritated nerve within your pelvis.

Thank you. Ya the heat flashes are probably anxiety but even when I’m a calm state I can get the flashes but definitely more when I’m anxious. I agree I definitely fit CPPS with the tip of the penis pain and the anus involvement also random left groin pains. I know I’m in for the long haul so I just need to come to grips with it and try to get back as much life as possible. Thanks again to you and webslave.

I have the heat flashes too and agree it must be due to anxiety.
