Thanks WS. Should I be taking this daily? Only during flares? How long should I take it before I should expect to get a benefit, or should I expect an immediate impact?

Addictive so only take for 1-2 weeks, or in a "weekend flare breaker" (see post on this elsewhere). You may get no benefit, some benefit, or a large benefit; everyone reacts differently. Long term, learn how to control stress or avoid it with lifestyle change.

Hello, I am new here and trying to figure this whole thing out. It’s been a real mess the past 2 months. Will post my full story later and add a signature, but I noticed this thread and wanted to get some opinions. Long story short, I have mainly tip of penis pain / numbness and I’m pretty sure stress (long term and recently from quitting a serious 15-year Weed habit) are the principal aggravating factors. Alcohol and benzos nearly eliminate the feeling, to the point where it’s essentially gone. I have been very reluctant to take benzos more than once every 2-3 days for dependence reasons. That said, I’m wondering if going on a daily dose might relax me enough to allow this mess to heal. Maybe a month or a few on it and then I could try tapering off? Or will the benefits go away once I develop a tolerance and leave me with another problem?

I realize a multi modal approach is necessary, but I’m wondering if this could help in my particular case. I’ve been using Ativan and it gives me relief even the next day — maybe I go to Klonopin or Valium? I know it’s a little crazy, but curious to get others thoughts. Symptoms are tip of penis pain (usually mild), tingling, coldness in head, some frequent urination but it’s not always a problem, and occasional pain in one testicle. Started with on and off numbness at the tip (after masturbating one day) which went away after a week and turned into this other stuff. I guess this turned into a full blown intro post. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and and sorry for hijacking this thread.
Age: 32 | Onset Age: 32 (perhaps earlier for urinary, but not pain) | Symptoms: tip of penis pain (on and off center), numbness (particularly at the start), frequent urination / incomplete emptying (seems to be improving), occasional pain / heaviness in right testicle, occasional numbness in other pelvic areas, slight pain with ejaculation | Helped By: alcohol, Ativan (both of the preceding, especially alcohol in larger quantities, will make all symptoms go away for a period of time), sitting on a donut cushion, walking / standing, wearing comfortable clothes | Worsened By: sitting for long periods or on hard surfaces, stress / anxiety (specifically about the issue and otherwise), exercise / running?, masturbation? | Other comments: long time daily cannabis user -- quit in late march 2018.

If you take benzos for longer than 4 months, you are going to have big problems with withdrawal. That's well established. 4 weeks is the usual limit. You could try it for a month, but you also need to work on the stress, or it'll just come back again.

Got it, thanks for your reply. That may end up being a last resort. For now I’m going to focus on stress, stretching, healthy eating, and possibly PT - with only occasional benzo use (every 2-3 days) or when things get really bad. I will also do a longer post later (possibly today) with some additional detail on my journey thus far. All the best.
