Mesenchymal Stem Cells

Post by HateCPPS »

Anyone do any research or hear any happenings with possibility of using MSCs for this condition?

I'm not a scientist, but I have been doing some reading on them. I'm particularly interested in their anti-inflammatory/immunosuppresive effects secreting cytokines.

They have been shown to be able to create tissue that is not regenerative (able to heal itself).

If I was a rich guy I feel like I would make a grant for urology research to make a study on this. It seems like it could be the magic potion to break a autoimmune cycle or repair some tissue damage that is not shown under TRUS/MRI etc.

I did find one link (posted here about 10 years ago) where there was some research in mice.

Also partly on what peaked my curiosity on these was the Mel Gibson/Joe Rogan dialog about the Panama Clinic with Dr. Neil Riordan.

Hoping we can start some dialog here on this and really hope someone with medical research experience can comment.

Also went from protected to unprotected sex around this same time, but all tests show no bacteria. I do not have urgency issues.

Biopsies of the prostates in men with CPPS show no damage, so what application is there for stem cells?
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

The application would fall under the theory that this problem has some autoimmune type mechanics, where something went wrong (some sort of trigger event) such as bacteria infection, overuse, injury, etc, that set off the vicious cycle... and now maybe the infection or route of the problem is gone, but the body is still bringing on this inflammation and or muscular response.

Again, I'm not the best to explain all the how everything happens at the cellular level with the stem cells... but there is a lot of research being done/clinical trials being started with treating autoimmune conditions, including irritable bowel type disorders. And there are publications showing the immunosuppresive type functions the stem cells can have down regulating chronic inflammatory processes. So I think this is an avenue that should be explored for CPPS.

Autoimmunity leads to real tissue damage, which is missing in CPPS.

Whether you want to label it as autoimmune or an unexplained reason for inflammation. I think the anti-inflammatory effects of the stem cells is still worth studying for this condition. I know I did have a prostate fluid secretion test that did show very high mast cell counts.
