Help

Post by Goldy »

Hi Friends,
I am 47 years old and have been diagnosed with seminal prostatitis. I had this in 2014, 2016 and now I had an MRI in Oct., 17 where it was found that my left seminal vesicle has shrunk due to infection. 2014 and 2016 problem got resolved with Antibiotics and period from 2014-16 was good. 2016 also, antibiotics cleared my infection quickly & I was symptom & pain free.

Now, in 2017, my urine and semen culture reports showed infection and I was put on a 10 day antibiotic course of Augmentin 1000 mg. It went away and my subsequent 2 routine and culture reports of urine and semen showed no infection. Even all my blood reports were normal and all good. In fact, my urologist got me tested for semen culture and straining test too to rule out any TB. That came negative as well. But the symptoms came back back after 5 days & I was suggested to take Ertapenem - antibiotic injections through Intravenous. I have also been administered 14 injections of Ertapenem through IV & my 14th injection was on 25th Dec., 17. Now, my urologist has put me on a single tablet of Levofloxacin 500 mg & a few vitamins.

But I have no relief.

My problem is that I am in extreme pain when I go to defecate in the morning. I have also been checked up by my General surgeon for any fissures/piles, which has been ruled out. I have already consulted best 3/4 urologists in my city New Delhi and all of them put me on antibiotics. I am also taking stool softener (Creamaffin plus) in night for easy passage of stools. But as soon as I sit on the pot to pass my morning stools and exert some pressure, I have extreme pain andit lasts till the last drop of stool comes out. Let me also add that I pass a lot of stool since I am on stool softener & am free by 3 pm when I start at around 9 am in morning.

Kindly help, guide and gimme some lead to fight with this disease. My family life, social life and business is all in bad shape & am feeling pathetic & alone.
Regards

Chronic bacterial seminal vesiculitis usually goes hand in hand with hematospermia (blood in the semen). If you've never had that, I kinda doubt the SVs are the cause. (Note: in cases of true chronic SV problems, the removal of the seminal vesicles is best).

Your pain sounds much more like the spasms of CPPS. I suggest you read the Headache in the Pelvis book to gain some insights into what is probably happening.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

Thanks for your reply. No, I haven't had blood in the semen. Urination is also fairly ok. My uroflometry report was good too. My only issue right now is extensive pain while defecating n I have already consulted a Gastro too. He said it might be mild anal spasms but it doesn't pain so much that I am experiencing right Now. A bit confused, hence, looking for help here. Regards.
