Hi guys:
Been a while since I've updated my condition. I've been on a combination of any accredited quercetin product (two pills a day) and Elavil (25mg a day) for about a month now and that has knocked out my daily testicular pain. Haven't had that pain for about 3 weeks and earlier this year I had it daily, pretty much all day and night.
I still have the ejaculation pain and will continue to focus on that. Interestingly I do not have penile or perineum pain during sex and no post-ejaculatory pain, just pain (feels muscular like the bulbo won't release...) during ejaculation. Does anyone know the Levator's role in ejaculation and whether that could contribute to pain during ejaculation? I'm thinking some internal TP therapy may be in order to address any trigger points there.
Thanks!
Stopping pelvic floor therapy and stretching actually made things better...
Re: Mystery of ejaculation pain
Age: 42. Onset Age: 21-22, then a break, then 27-29, then a break, then 40-present. Symptoms: waxing and waning testicular pain (right only), painful sex and ejaculation. Helped by: physical therapy. Worsened by: sexual activity, ejaculation, prolonged sitting, cold weather. Tests/Prior Treatments: urinalysis, pelvic CAT scan with contrast dye, cystoscopy, urine cytology study, nerve blocks, radio-frequency ablation of the inguinal nerve, testicular ultrasound, antibiotic courses including Levaquin and Cipro. All tests were normal with the exception of urinalysis which revealed microscopic traces of blood. Medications: Klonopin 0.5mg.

Re: Mystery of ejaculation pain
Well, the bulbo muscle contributes to erection, the contractions of orgasm and ejaculation, so it could be at fault here. It's a superficial muscle. I'd be interested to hear whether that pain succumbs to massage with a tool like a Wahl Massager (which I find effective on trigger points in my shoulders)

May have to try that. I do know that Caedar had some success with bulbo trigger points by using a strumming massage technique.

Checking in — Quercetin
Hi guys:
It's been a while since I've checked in, about 6 months. I can gladly report that I no longer have pain during ejaculation. The only "cure" appeared to be Quercetin. I've been taking that daily for the past 6 months, often twice a day but at least once. I cannot say with certainty that it's not a placebo effect but I believe strongly that it has a therapeutic effect.
Unfortunately, I still have intermittent pain in my right testicle. One day I will be completely pain free, not a trace of pain, all day, all night, but the next day, I can wake up with some tension there and it can and often turns into moderate testicular pain. I would say I'm generally pain free 65-70% of the week. I do not engage in any physical, psychological, or pharmaceutical treatment at at all with the exception of any accredited quercetin product in the morning. Here's the odd part: when I am under extreme stress (e.g. sleepless night, but still go to work the next day, have multiple job interviews on the same day, start a new job, etc...), I do not have testicular pain. Similarly, my episodes of pain often occur on the weekends, not during my usually very stressful work week. Can't figure this one out! It may possibly be the fact that I am so focused on the stress, the pain is a non-issue to my subconscious. But against that, I often have days that are very relaxing, with no testicular pain.

Re: Stopping pelvic floor therapy and stretching actually made things better...
Cree - Hi... How long did you have your most recent bout? I noticed you've had intermittent bouts over the years. Do you have a lot of anxiety or stress? This is my first and my PT said it will most likely reoccur. I find that sobering news, but I can't believe that's the case for everyone. Especially if we change our lifestyles. So no stretching on your end either? Interesting.
Age: 43 | Onset Age: 43 | Symptoms: burning in tip of penis/urethra has mostly faded; mild pain in right testicle; main pain comes from anterior levator ani spasm | Helped By: hot baths, healing time days after PT, klonopin .25-.5mg, meditation (trying to learn) |Taking: 100mg zoloft (recent onset of tinnitus), Omega-3s, VSL3 Probiotic, Q-Rol, Zyflamend, Chelated Magnesium 500Mg | Worsened By: anxiety, depression, thinking about it too much | Other comments: sitting and pireneal and most penis pain/burning is gone from PT but just developed pain after ejaculation coming from levator; some pain from sitting too long depends on spasm; listening to Jon Kabat Zinn helps; need to de-stress my life; my PT says I'm at rock bottom and it's a long journey so I try to tell myself to be realistic about how long it will take and that this takes time so I try not to let it affect my social life
Re: Stopping pelvic floor therapy and stretching actually made things better...
Hi there: I always have significant anxiety. I've been diagnosed with social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and probably most significant, obsessive-compulsive disorder (the nastiest of all of those IMO...) I also have the classic "Sarno" personality: extreme people-pleaser, perfectionist and extremely self-critical. Gee, you wonder why I have chronic pelvic pain with those attributes?
Anyways, I've technically been in my last bout of testicular pain since early 2014.
I do not do any stretching at all. I used to have a strict regimen of stretching, twice a day, 7 days a week, but honestly, when I compare my pain when stretching versus doing no stretching at all, there is absolutely no difference.
Yes the fact that most cases of pelvic pain come back is sobering and depressing, but we all have to figure out the best way to manage the disorder in our own ways. I often think I could have it worse. I am lucky, I don't have pain every single day and I've had years go by without any pain. I just buried a brother who fought brain cancer for two years and suffered horribly. It put things into perspective for me.
Anyways, since your'e relatively new, my best advice is to take Webslave's insights and opinions as Gospel, he has helped me a lot and countless others on this forum. I would never have given any accredited quercetin product a second chance without his suggestions, and my sexual-related pain been has been annihilated due to this wonderful product. Thank you Webslave!
Best of luck on your journey of healing and always, always stay positive!

Cree/Chris,
Never got a chance to reply here and tell you thanks for sharing your story, and sorry for your loss.
Recently I finally got pain in tip of penis to subside with PT in levator ani, but now I've got prostate or sphincter symptoms I thought I'd left in the dust. I think that's what's most irritating and difficult. But I'm going to just tell myself there are worse things I can be suffering from and as you said this is manageable. I think the hardest part is letting go, accepting and understanding there's no quick fix. I think learning to meditate and having some compassion for myself will help me be a better person and less anxious in the long run. I have to believe that is what I'll get from this experience.
Appreciate your perspective.

Yes me too. I think mine is Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). I've pretty much had it all my life and never properly treated it until I hit rock bottom after losing my job in 2010.I always have significant anxiety.
Yep. That would be me too for most of my life. Guess there's a lot in common including our age. I just had my first episode in Jan and it's waxed and waned. Just when I think I'm turning the corner, it raises it's ugly head.I also have the classic "Sarno" personality: extreme people-pleaser, perfectionist and extremely self-critical.

Thanks for your comments! I believe you are on the right track with meditation, which will help shut off your anxious brain for a while and the effects are cumulative. Keep up the good work.

Are you still taking Elavil? I'm considering taking it even though I know it can have long term side effects. I just realized last night my current issue and pain is a spasm either triggered by the levator ani or inner sphincter. This area stays sore for a long time also. Gonna get a therawand and have my PT help me learn how to reach the levator ani.

Hi: yes I’ve tried Elavil. I’ve gone up to 50mg and it never did anything significant for the pain, but it’s a worth a shot. It’s a very old and safe drug, my mom has been on 100mg for decades with no issues.
