Probiotics for IC

Post by Amonges »

Out of curiosity, I read that probiotics aid in the gut and helps with IC. I have been dealing with food sensitivities for the past year now where if I eat certain foods such as chocolate, cranberries, bread, gluten and anything too acidic I start to flare in my symptoms especially with urinary.

Does anybody know which type and brand name of probiotics to use? I know webslave you used probiotics that helped you with your symptoms in the past. Anything recommended. Thank you !

I was not particularly helped by probiotics, unfortunately. But if you've taken extensive courses of antibiotics, they are a good idea (restores the intestinal flora). Your reactivity to acidic/caffeine/gluten foods is fairly typical of IC-spectrum UCPPS patients.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

Hey webslave under the category : diet & allergies and the very 1st topic it says Food tolerances/IBS breakthrough it talks about using different strains of good bacteria. Which brand bottle did you use which helped you ?

Thanks for bringing that to my attention — I need to alter that post. The probiotics did give me a temporary boost in intestinal health, but later I found that I could not use the Yakult and kefir due to a lactose intolerance ... and then the good effects tailed off as my bowels adjusted to the new flora.

At the moment I am finding a big improvement in bowel symptoms by taking quercetin (Quercetin). The improvement has lasted a month so far, so we'll see. No stomach pain, no diarrhea. But because other things have helped before, temporarily, I'm cautious.

I'm going to stick with the Quercetin then and see what happens. I have been cycling 3 weeks on and 1 week off. Must give time to see effects.
