With regard to IC/CPPS. I agree I might have to have a cysto to rule out stuff. I'll give it a little time first.
But there is an inherent risk with regard to an IC diagnosis. We all believe here that in "chronic prostatitis" there is absolutely nothing wrong with the prostate. In IC however there seems, as I have understood, to be a subset of patient who have some real inflammatory bladder process (responding to steroids/tarcolimus) going on whereas the majority has in fact PFD with potentially secondary bladder involvement. I read an interesting interview with Kotarinos about this (http://www.blogaboutpelvicpain.com/?p=1583).
If a cysto would show some inflammation of the bladder one might be persuaded that an actual organic problem is going on. Treatment may then be focussed by our providers on that (the bladder) and patients may be persuaded its impossible to get better since the bladder is sick. It may be that in future years a comparable paradigm shift occurs in IC as I have seen in chronic prostatitis but I am not sure. For me, I really like the idea that in fact in chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome nothing is broken, its an organic and therefore potentially reversible. Whereas in fact this may not be the case. A cysto may show abnormalities and you could still have IC or not and if it doesn't one might still have IC or not cause cystos may be normal in IC patients. This makes you wonder what the gain is of the cysto (except for ruling out tumor/stricture).
Taken together, its difficult stuff.
Some specific questions for you all
Re: Some specific questions for you all
34 yrs old. Now rectal pain, some suprabic discomfort an occasional urgency. Still trying to figure out what helps. Episode of frequency in 2008 but this dissapeared for a year.

No, the prostate is often subtly inflameddavioj wrote: Wed Aug 23, 2017 4:02 pmWe all believe here that in "chronic prostatitis" there is absolutely nothing wrong with the prostate.

IC and chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome really are very similar. Men with chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome can also have bladder inflammation as well ... for instance in my case the prostatic urethra was inflamed, and so was the floor of the bladder and bladder neck.

I have only urinary symptoms now. No bacteria whatsoever in my test.
The feeling is, I can not empty after I pee. I feel urgency minutes after I pee, although no major fluid intake.
Also, sex and masturbation makes urinary symptoms worse
Abstaining from sex, is it a solution? What should I do for this " not emptying the urethra" feeling and urgency coming back.
