Quercetin regime 3 weeks on 1 week off?

Post by andrewt »

Hi, I recently joined this forum after struggling with this condition for almost a year now. Antibiotics haven't really helped, so I'm starting to try alternate therapies such as quercetin supplements. I read on the tips page of this website that the recommended regime of taking it is 3 weeks on and 1 week off? I wanted to know if this is what most people are trying & how successful its been compared to taking it everyday for months? And what it the reasoning behind taking one week off is?

I apologise if my post is incorrectly done, I'll have to update myself on the guidelines. If anyone has any feedback or information on this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, I can help with this. It was in fact me that first reported that the improvements from quercetin are enhanced by cycling on and off the phytopharmaceutical. Others followed my tip and found a similar response. It may be because the cycling allows for a "reset" of the local biochemistry in the pelvis, but the exact reason is not known.

Phytopharmaceuticals are not like antibiotics or other drugs. They do not need to be kept at a constant blood concentration for maximal efficacy.

Thanks for the response and welcome, that does makes sense to me about the resetting and something I'll try with the one week off. Cheers.

I've been taking 1000mg of quercetin for 5 weeks. I just read this so I guess I should take a week or two off and then get back on only four two weeks. I hope I didn't lose the potential for full effects. I'm taking the LongLife brand with 100mg of Bromean per 500mg.
Age: 43 | Onset Age: 43 | Symptoms: burning in tip of penis/urethra has mostly faded; mild pain in right testicle; main pain comes from anterior levator ani spasm | Helped By: hot baths, healing time days after PT, klonopin .25-.5mg, meditation (trying to learn) |Taking: 100mg zoloft (recent onset of tinnitus), Omega-3s, VSL3 Probiotic, Q-Rol, Zyflamend, Chelated Magnesium 500Mg | Worsened By: anxiety, depression, thinking about it too much | Other comments: sitting and pireneal and most penis pain/burning is gone from PT but just developed pain after ejaculation coming from levator; some pain from sitting too long depends on spasm; listening to Jon Kabat Zinn helps; need to de-stress my life; my PT says I'm at rock bottom and it's a long journey so I try to tell myself to be realistic about how long it will take and that this takes time so I try not to let it affect my social life
