Hey people :),
I have been doing the last week moment-to-moment (mtm) paradoxical relaxation, putting an alarm in the phone every 15 minutes, and try to do it as best as I can every day. What a difference I felt in just two days!!! I mean feeling overall good and on a relaxed mindset. Symptoms I felt 2 days better. I am not sure yet if it was because of this great stress reduction/ relaxation of breathing and pelvic floor or because of some stretches that I did. I have to keep doing this mtm paradoxical relaxation to see if I keep improving.
So my only question or if anybody has any tips: I have noticed I can be relaxed through this mtm p. r. almost during all day long, even when I am in the university and sitting on hard chairs I am able to concentrate and be relatively relaxed. I just fail to do this when I am with friends and mostly if I am with friends and sitting on a bar or hard chairs I get stressed and I can't do this mtm paradoxical relaxation.
SO my question is: has anybody any tips for not stressing (because the sitting on hard chairs gives me pain and I just can't relax if I don't concentrate and in social situations I can't do that) while hanging out with friends, reunions and so on when one has pain? Some ideas may be great :D

Re: MTM paradoxical relaxation in stressful situations?
How have you always felt with those particular friends? Do they judge you a lot, or make you feel uncomfortable? Are they real friends? Or do they expect a lot out of you? Do they know about your pain?
Maybe think about why you hurt more when hanging with them. It may be less about the chairs, more about the company.

The above ^
Or you are conditioned to get the pain when you are with them. If you once felt terrible outside and it has imprinted in your brain that being with friends and sitting on particular chairs worsens your condition, you will certainly get pain. For instance I sometimes get pain simply being in a mall with my gf shopping. It has imprinted in my brain the old days when I felt terrible in the mall, hence I get the conditioned pain. What works is truly shifting my mind from the pain and focus on something else.

Onset Age: 23 , Current Age: 24 Symptoms: Pain in butt/ prostate area, buttocks when sitting for long, pain during sex - especially erections were very painful... pain moved slowly to the left side after reading about the PNE bullcrap. Helped By: Relaxation, massage (temporary relief), the real difference made for me understanding that this is induced by the Brain/Central nervous system as tension, therefore addressing the tension psychologically, not physically. During flare ups I use a strong dose of tramadol - 100mg extended release, works magic for me. If your symptoms improve when distracted or during vacations and stress worsens your symptoms I urge you to:
* Read John Sarno's books
* Read Ezer's story on this site.
* Explore the TMSwiki site and read every single success story there. (even the non CPPS)
* Pay a special attention to Alan Gordon's posts.
* Read Clair Weeks book Hope and help for your nerves (apply the concepts to CPPS).
Current status: more or less cured if stressful events and emotional conflicts did not flare up my symptoms. This does not affect my life in any aspect anymore, because I dont allow it to.
