I've been reading quite a lot about it, and was wondering exactly what it is. I find that when I ejaculate (if I can get an erection !) is comes out in small amounts, with little or no force and then dribbles for a while afterwards. Is this retrograde ejaculation ?
Thanks
Craig

Retrograde ejaculation (RE) is where the semen travels to the bladder rather than out the urethra (the tube running from the bladder through the penis to the outside). A man will still have an erection and orgasm, but no ejaculate will be seen. Do you have retrograde ejaculation? If you are taking certain alpha-blockers then RE is common, and will disappear when you stop taking them. If not, a diagnosis can be made if sperm are found in the urine after intercourse. If the urine after intercourse or masturbation appears cloudy, it is usually an indication of retrograde ejaculation, since the semen in the bladder will be emptied with the urine.
The treatment for retrograde ejaculation depends on the cause of the problem. Any procedure or disease that has affected or damaged the nerves is unlikely to be treated successfully due to the severity of nerve injuries and the difficulty associated with regrowing nerves.
If a physical cause is reversible, then an operation to correct this should cure the retrograde ejaculation. Since a man is still able to have an erection and experience orgasm, the lack of treatments available is of little concern to sufferers. If fertility is an issue for couples, a partner can be inseminated from sperm isolated from the man's urine.
That being said, I do not think you have RE, but you may have the impaired ejaculation frequently found in men with PM/CPPS.

No ejaculate will be seen at all? I have some, but very little, this caused by the Flomax I presume - I get the greatly reduced semen right away when taking Flomax and it goes away as quickly when I stop the drug. Have not noticed cloudy urine following. Would you still call that retrograde? Or just abnormal ejaculation caused by the Flomax?webslave wrote:...no ejaculate will be seen...If you are taking certain alpha-blockers then RE is common

RE does not have to mean a total lack of ejaculate. Partial ejaculation is common too.
