Mindbody Prescription, by Dr. Sarno.
I am reading the Mindbody Prescription for the second time. Has anyone out there noticed success with CPPS while reading this book? I noticed some improvement on my first read, so I'm trying it again. Would CPPS be included in the TMS conditions where the unconscious mind is creating pain in the body as a means of distraction from emotions too painful to deal with? It seems like it would be included in that psychosomatic group of pain afflictions, however, the pain is also more complicated than say back pain. Anyone else have thoughts on this who has read the book?
Age: 49| Onset Age: 47| Symptoms: Pain locations: Intermittent left and right front pelvic floor lateral to urethra; occasionally left side tailbone pain (rarer); left spermatic chord pain (become rare); Post BM-Pain helped by distraction during Bowel Movement.| Current meds: None. Helped by: deep breathing, mediation, hiking, distractions, exercise. Approximately 98% improved, varying depending on stress levels.

Awesome list of topics, thanks. I've read many of those but there are some that I haven't seen before. I was just trying to get some of the newer members involved too, to see if any more recent members have read his books, and if they may have opinions, etc.

Majorsky, Sarno opened new possibilities for me but reading and re-reading his books (the infamous curative knowledge penicillin) did absolutely nothing for me. The cognitive cure is dubious to me.
I strongly believe that CPPS or fibromyalgia are resistant to such a mild way to address those pathologies.
The main thing I learned from Sarno is from the following quote:
Ultimately, feeling and reconnecting with my emotions were the key to healing (which is not advocated by Sarno).

I then read much more serious studies both on the psychological and neurological sides that helped me understand why.Mindbody syndromes are due to repressed emotions.
