I had a cystosctopy yesterday. I found it very painful and extremely uncomfortable. I'm still in pain/discomfort from it, but this should pass hopefully. The whole thing gives me the creeps.
Everything looked normal.
My uro is recommending acupuncture (he knows a uro that does it). He says there is statistical proof that it helps, but the results are obviously variable. Should I try it?
Age: 36 | Symptoms: Started with urethra/penis pain. Now have low back and posterior pelvic pain. Have been doing SP since May 2004.
Interestingly I felt better after my cytoscopy, everyone is different I suppose. I tried acupuncture and it didn't help but didn't hurt either. Why not try it. It is very operator dependent.
I had one last year. the flexible kind. Less painful then I expected, the bit where they go from the urethra into the bladder was tough (that's probably because most of us have very tense and tight muscles in that area-causing our problem to begin with) but no big deal.
Peeing for about a week afterwards would occasionally hurt quite a bit. I found if I barely pushed my stream out (kinda held back while pushing out-it wouldn't hurt. After a week, everything was Ok.
I had one last fall and I'm scheduled for another one soon with my new uro. It definetly was an unpleasant but bearible experience. I was expecting the worst. Waiting for the urodynamic in the hallway with a catheter and a gown was the worst part and very embarassing.
I was quite sore and tender afterwards. It was stinging to urinate for a few days but I hydrated myself to no end. It subsided after a few days.
