Brain Fog, Concentration
Can CPPS cause brain fog and concentration issues?
Can chronic pain cause your mind to aimlessly wander constantly to take your mind off of the pain? Similar to bring in shock, at a lower scale, for a long time.
I feel these symptoms along with just feeling 'out of it'
P.S. Whenever I feel less tight, less pains and less hard flaccid I simultaneously feel less brain fog, libido issues, memory issues, concentration issues and the 'out of it' feeling.

Re: Brain Fog, Concentration
No, it does not cause brain fog but some men also have CFS (I did too), which does cause brain fog. CFS, IBS and fibro are the most common comorbid conditions for CPPS. (comorbid means "medical conditions that present simultaneously")
Do you also have fatigue and poor sleep?

Re: Brain Fog, Concentration
Yes I do. I had a sleep study done which revealed nothing bad but it's hard to get a schedule down, insomnia etc. yeah fatigue goes along with the feelin out of it too.
Fibro=fibromyalgia?
CFS=Chronic fatigue syndrome?
Does CPPS not cause brain fog or does chronic pain not cause brain fog? Or both?
I can see how constant fatigue could cause it

Brain fog is a classic CFS symptom.

Re: Brain Fog, Concentration
So brain fog/concentration issues is caused by CFS. And CFS is caused by CPPS... I see how it says that CPPS a and CFS are related but I don't see where it says how one causes the other. It just talks about how it's common to see it together...
My guess is that the chronic pain in the pelvic areas can make you so irritable that any pain anywhere else is just much worse.

Re: Brain Fog, Concentration
No, CPPS does not cause CFS, nor does CFS cause CPPS. There is an underlying predisposition that causes both conditions often to occur simultaneously.

So they're related but don't cause each other in anyway? I don't understand

Google "comorbidity"
CPPS is comorbid with CFS, IBS and fibro. Fibromyalgia itself is comorbid with several other disorders, including but not limited to; depression, anxiety, headache, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic fatigue syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, migraine, and panic disorder.

Re: Brain Fog, Concentration
I understood that. I'm asking why they happen simultaneously. I think it's odd that neither cause each other yet they just randomly both happen...

Re: Brain Fog, Concentration
They don't always happen simultaneously. It depends on the patient's individual genetic makeup and environment.
The simplest way to put it is that your genes mean you have a propensity to develop conditions like CFS and CPPS, which can be caused by similar triggers (for example, stress).

Oh okay that helps.
Do you think fixing CPPS will help with CFS and brain fog?
We know it will help libido, genital size, sensitivity etc

Re: Brain Fog, Concentration
Yes, again speaking in general, if you remove the triggers that are causing CPPS it tends to make comorbid conditions fade too. In my case, my CFS took longer to control than the CPPS.

Re: Brain Fog, Concentration
Gotcha. This may sound odd but I think a lot of the CFS, anxiety, and depression come from having such a low libido. A libido for men give you a drive for everything in life whether you realize it or not. Without it, everything is so dull and you have no spark when doing anything. There's no feel good feelings happening because there's no reaction. That's how it is for me at least

Re: Brain Fog, Concentration
So, to be clear; a lot of people who develop CPPS also come across with cognitive issues and depression, right?
Not to say they always do, but it is pretty common then?

Re: Brain Fog, Concentration
Yes, it's quite common, and that's backed up by studies.
Other common comorbid conditions are IBS and Fibro.
