Weather & Chronic Prostatitis

Post by viper »

Hello,

Can the weather makes the CP symptons worse? I live in Belgium and the summer is finished when it was warm weather I didn't have much pain but now it's gettin colder and I get the same pain as a few months ago. I don't know if their is a link between my low backpain an CP?
I also have painfull(tired) legs. Well I hope my CP will get away someday but if I searched the forum and see that people have problems already for years I think it will stays forever :(

Any new medication that will be released in the future for people with CP?
I'm trying Algonot & any accredited quercetin product but it didn't helps me yet.

Cheers
Kris

A Finnish study in 2000 found that
.... 63% of the men with prostatitis had their worst symptoms during the winter (November-March). CONCLUSIONS: The results of this survey showed that the occurrence of prostatitis symptoms in men living in northern Finland is higher than that reported in other parts of the world. This could be partly caused by the cold climate.

I recently addressed the same concern on the Ontario chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome yahoo group. This is my second bout with chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome in my lifetime. Both started during a fall season.

The Summer is coming to an end here in Canada. I'm awaiting the observation of how the colder weather affects me this year.

The summer was good but it was flare free.

I find that cold weather GREATLY exacerbates my pain. In fact, last summer (my first with CPPS) I was beginning to wonder if I was on the virge of recovery until the winter came along and brought with it all my pain again.

Personally, I reckon this phenomenon has something to do with the fact that the penis gets drawn in during cold weather: all the muscle tension involved in chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome will obviously be made much worse.

Cold is a mast cell trigger. Especially bad for asthma, for example, is exercise in dry, cold weather.

Over the years, I have observed increased activity in internet chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome and IC forums during the winter months. You'll notice that this and other chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome forums will get much busier as the temperature decreases in North America and Europe.

This fact may be true for any other internet forum, since people generally stay inside during winter months. This might be a result of more people not wanting to waste away their summer on a computer. Although I do agree that cold weather does not help matters.

Tell me about it! My back pain started up again yesterday (well what do I expect? It's September!). The difference this year is that Vioxx has actually sorted it out. It normally only takes the edge off my back pain. Here's to year on year improvement :-D

Age: 39. | Onset Age: 30. Onset Date: January 2002. Symptoms (back then): Supra-pubic pain, back pain, urinary frequency, urgency and difficulty, weak stream, nocturia, (and variously) chronic fatigue, IBS. Current symptoms: more frequent than normal, but pretty much under control. Current amelioration: Xatral 10mg, Mirtazapine 30mg. | Worsened By: Stress, binge drinking, strained bowel movements, bloating, sitting on hard surfaces, jogging, and regularly - THE WINTER!

Although the weather is still nice in toronto this week, my flareups started back just after Labour Day. Frequency of Urination has increased. IBS symptoms have also come back unwelcome (bloating, excessive gas, softer stools).
I've also developed a very stiff, sore lower back (just above the tailbone). It hurts more after a day of sitting at work (and I have one of the IC cushions) or waking up. It feels like the lower back has nearly seized up. What causes this?

I am pretty sad, because I had nearly a whole summer being nearly symptom free (save the frequency) and now I feel I have 6 months of fall and winter to suffer through.

I'm going to enjoy the warm weather here in Toronto as long as I can. I still have good and bad days. Just try to enjoy the good ones and make it through the bad ones.

I'm tired of trying to find the all encompassing answer. I'm just striving to get a bit better every day.

Maybe the lower back pains are partly due to weak muscles? Try working out those muscles and see if that helps.
