Injections

Post by james-d »

I have begun a round of injections via my local urologist following the protocol of Dr. Bahn (slightly modified).

I have had the first of three injections and will post my progress here (if noone objects).

I don't know if it will work at all, or if it will work for a short time due to the anti-inflamatory effects or what.

But I can say this - 3 days of no pain - first three daays of no pain in 8 months! - Thats got to count for something.

If this works out at all I will post my supplement protocul as well as the injection contents.

If it fails miserably - I will post that as well for otheres to learn from my mistakes.

In any case - the die is cast!

Thank you for posting. We are all interested in your experiences. I believe Bahn uses Gentamycin, Levaquin, Diflucan, Bethamethasone, Lidocaine and Toradol. Tell us if he has changed the mixture.

That is bahn's mix - but my local urologist consulted with him and we have "tweeked" his cocktail a little.
We dropped the toradol completly and upped the levaquin (from 4mg to 100).

My urologist is doing this basicly to appease me - Its just a big experiment and I am the guinea pig.

The first round seems ok so far though - I got to tell you - if it even lasts for 3 months and must be repeated 4 times a year - it is still going to be worth it to my quality of life.

I will post back in 2 weeks after my second round on the 20th.

Despairation got me here - I'll see where it takes me too....

I will keep posting my results.
My schedule for injections has been modified.
My next is on August 27th and then every other week after that for 4 injections.

My doctor is using me as an experiment to see if this works at all - if it does I am sure they will want me to post info for patient referls.

We are following Dr. bahns. protocol with some modification.
Any doc you cn talk into doing it that has a TRUS machine can do it - I beleive it requires little true skill - unlike prostate surgery - the side effect are some blood in semen and urine - but that resolved in a few days.

So far results are OK - not super impresive - but better - my doc beleives that the repeated use of them over a period of time will really help (maybe).

I will post again next week and keep my fingers crossed until then!

Had my second injection today.
Ouch!!!!!!!!!!!!

But the pain only lasts a few minutes - then the lidocaine kicks in and all is well.

Results are immediete again - inflamation goes down to zero immedietly and only pain is the residual needle stick pain in the seminal vesicles (thats a weird pain).

Next one is 14 days away and I will keep posting.

I still have high hopes for this therapy and hope it provides a good treatment plan even if it can't provide a cure!

My Doc is optimistic and I think willing to "stick me" as often as I can take
it.

Third Injection on September 10.

I am getting used to the pain of the injection now.

The results seem to be compunding some relief for me - I am feeling better now.

I am unsure of how long it will last - and that is the big question.

2 More scheduled injections.

Will keep posting.

September 24th saw my fourth injection.

They are going well - well tolerated for the most part and substanially reduced pain still.

One more left in the series (october 8) then I wait and see how long they last for.

I must say that I recomend them so far for anyone considering it - if your pain is high to start with.

I am happy to discuss with anyone that wants to learn about it.

Well - I had my fifth injection today.

The past few weeks have been better then at any time in the past year.

If I still feel good in a few days I will post under the "success storie" with periodic updates for people who may be considering injections.

So far I give them 2 thumbs way up!! But the truth will be in how long the relief lasts.

If you don't mind me posting a cautionary opinion: I think it is quite possible to get temporary relief by damping down the immune system in the lower urinary tract with strong immunosuppressants like dexamethasone or betamethasone, but I have virtually no expectation that the improvement will last indefinitely. I'm very interested to monitor your condition 6-12 months after you cease treatment.

Don't misunderstand me - I in NO WAY think this is a cure.

But - it may be a way to help manage a painful condition.

If I have to endure periodic injections (every 3 - 4 months or so) to maintain relief - so be it.

I have given up looking for a magic bulet per say and am doing managment of a chronic condition.

If I get 3 more good months out of this - it is totally 100 percent worth it!

If I relapse in 3 weeks - well then - it probobly was not.

So - I will keep the board here informed - as for side effects - so far they are minimal for me and very managable and temporary.

I know this sollution will only be considered by those in desperate straites - but I am here to tell you that if you are in terrible pain - this is worth at least serious consideration.

The past few weeks have been wonderful - I can play with my 2 year old son and be a father again - that has been worth the pain of any injection!

I will keep posting my progress.

it is working for me

 I have a prior posting under information about injections.
i have had now 4 sets of 3 injections each done with Prof Guercini in Italy. I am pleased to no extent. I had given up on living. the last set was done in june in conjunction with WIT (and wit hurt like the dickens by the way).
the last set of injections (the one that was done with the WIT at 46c,) got rid of Chlamydia ( verified by 5 subsequent PCR tests done at 4 different labs ) . prior to this last set of injection Chlamydia resulted positive in the sperm negative in the urine on the PCR tests, negative on all the cultures.
i still have Staph, enterococcus and Klebsiellae probably resulting from 4 prior instrumentations of my urethra done in the first 2 years of my calvaryand from the overuse of antibiotics. which can cause the intestianl wall to be permeable to enterococcus.

we are now doing a new set of injections using a different formula, targeted to staph ( fortunately it appears not to be MRSA) using levaquin and gentamicin. My US urologist has adopted this technique, at least for me, and I am doing them in the US under the guidance of Prof Guercini who keeps in contact with me by email and telephone.

at the end of this set of injection I plan to have a microwave cath done.
i will keep you posted.
i hope that by Christmas I will be rid of the staph. if I am lucky the enterococcus will be gone as well.

one word of advise. you need to find a lab that can tell you what you have.
I have not been able to get a lab in the US that ever gave a positive result, always false negatives. Because of that, my doctors here had no treatment to offer.

If you have pain and you get a negative I would highly recommend that you get a lab that is capable to identify pathogens.
The only two that were able toidentifymy pathogens are the two that Prof Guercini used for me:
Genoma in Rome and the one at the Univerity of Florence, in Italy.

I am looking for a lab in the us that is as good. anybody has any suggeastions?
for now I have to send my specimen to italy to get checked.

Interesting. I am not convinced mine is related to an infection at all (it may be - what do I know) - I am just happy the procedure is working.

Did you have a set of injections immedietly following your WIT then?

Ouch....

I am interested to see if Dr. Shoskes or others on the forum would comment on trying steroid instillations into the prostatic/urethral juncture instead of taking steroids by mouth or by injection. Instillations are commonly used for IC into the bladder. I recently read of a paper dated back to the 1970s where DMSO was instilled into the prostatic urethral juncture, not in to the bladder, for chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome with good results. Wouldn't the steroids be absorded into the prostate by placing the steroid cocktail right at the base of the bladder instead of in it? Also, it is my impression that the steroid cocktail used by Dr. Bahn contains antibiotics to prevent infection not to cure it since no bacterial infection probably exists, its probably neurogenic/autoimmune inflammation. Any comments?
