Hi All,
I was wondering - What is everyone's quality of sleep like? For as long as I can remember, I've been waking up 2-3 times a night for years. Usually to go pee or just simply because I'm not in a deep enough sleep.
I can't help but feel that it ties into my anxious disposition, which of course ties into pelvic pain. I feel nearly 100% these days but I still wake up at night. Even before I began suffering from pelvic pain I was waking up at night.
Anyone else have the same problem?

Quality of Sleep
Age: 27 | Onset Age: 26| Symptoms: Occasional penis discomfort (mild), primary pain is perineum - feels like I'm sitting on a golf ball, pressure in penis, almost like a stick is in my urethra, difficulty sitting for long periods of time, urinary frequency (some), incontinence (dribbling), right testicle pain (almost gone!), hip pain, stiff hips, lower back pain. Some abdomen pain. Just general discomfort in the area, post sex discomfort. | Helped By: External and Internal PT. Hot bathes. Supplements (mag, omega 3, vitamin b and D, prosta Q). Relaxing. Breathing exercises. Anti inflammatory diet. Stretches. Yoga | Worsened By: Stress. Core exercises, too much exercise, too little exercise, strenuous exercise. Sitting. Too much Sex | Other comments: Feeling better, but still not 100% I'd say I'm 75%

Re: Quality of Sleep
Yes, my quality of sleep has been chronically impaired since the day my CPPS/CP started (in 2005). Actually, I was kinda surprised not to find this issue when CPPS/CP is discussed on scientific papers, so I guessed it was not that common in CPPS/CP.
For many years since it started, I have woke up 4-8 times (during a 6-8 hours of sleep) because of the pelvic and abdominal aches, that I also have had during the day most of the time (almost non-stop).
In the recent months I started to take a daily dose of alfuzosin (10mg), and those aches became less and less frequent and less intense. I still wake up when I sleep, but less than before (2-4 times during a 6-8 hours of sleep) and the pain is also felt less intense (it feels like tension/pressure and sometimes like a burning or a dull ache all over the abdomen and even sometimes up to the ribs)... the interesting thing is that it tends to diminish and vanish as I stay awake and start my day (Whereas before I took alfuzosin those aches tended to stay much the same most of the time).
However it's not resolved completely, so my quality of sleep is still impaired, and as a result I feel tired most of the days. In addition, I still experience other symptoms during the day that stayed much the same - a constant 24/7 pressure/burning sensation at the tip of penis and sometimes also perineal and abdominal aches (but less than before).

Age: 30 | Onset Age: 19| Symptoms: Urinary frequency, Urinary urgency, constant 24/7 sensation in the penis (in the tip mainly - burning/pressure/discomfort/"wetness"), Nocturia, discomfort and pressure in the pelvic region radiating to the abdomen and becoming severe as time passes since last urination (resolved in 2014 by myofascial release), Stream velocity is somewhat slow and prolonged with an average velocity of ~13cc/min (and max 18cc/min) found in flowmetry test when bladder is filled with 500cc at age 25 (I always feel like I need to press my abdomen to urinate, improved later on when using alpha blockers)| Helped By: especially MYOFASCIAL RELEASE (especially in the areas of hips and abdomen) - generally resolved my abdominal aches, but penile symptoms remained the same| Worsened By: Coffee and possibly some other food as well| Other comments: Quercetin and acupuncture helped me no more than a placebo effect. Age 25-26: Diagnosed with indirect inguinal hernia and medium hydrocele at the same side. After operation many of the acute symptoms disappeared, but the chronic urinary and pelvic symptoms remained much the same.

Re: Quality of Sleep
I believe that sleep disruption is due to neuralgia.
Age: 43 | Onset Age: 17 | Symptoms: previously: constant urgency, premature ejaculation, burning at tip of penis, pelvic ache current: semi annual flares. | Helped By: PT, yoga, stretch, keeping warm(long johns) boxer briefs, regular sleep routine | Worsened By: cystoscopy, antibiotics (fluoroquinolones) alcohol, coffee, stress, masturbation, cold
