Xatral Failed - Should I try another?

Post by CMT23 »

Tried Xatral for 3 months. No noticeable improvement. Is it worth trying a different Alpha Blocker, or can I assume that if Xatral fails that Alpha blockers will not help me?

Thank you for any input!
Age: 39 | Onset Age: 17 | Symptoms: Constant feeling of needing to urinate felt in the tip of penis. Frequency. Urgency. None of the typical pain associated with CPPS. | Helped By: Valium, Klonopin, and very hot baths, followed by lying down still/doing relaxation. Also made almost symptom free for a few seconds following a bowel movement. | Worsened By: stress, anxiety, skipping meals, lack of sleep, extended sitting, coffee, alcohol. NO other pain or discomfort although after ejaculation symptoms will usually get worse unless I lie still for 20 minutes or so. | Other comments: Symptoms began at the moment of ejaculation, disappeared after a few months and then returned a few months later and have not gone away since.

Anyone? Is it possible that one Alpha Blocker will work where another fails?

I have not heard reports like that, but there is little harm in trying and reporting back to educate us.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

Alright thanks. The experiment continues. I will try Silodosin for three months and see what happens to me! In the meantime I am doing the protocol in earnest, but when I have big flares despite my efforts so far, it is difficult to not look for some pharmaceutical relief again. At least I know about Valium and Klonopin now. For years I had many sleepless nights and anxiety as I simply didn't know about anything that could bring temporary relief apart from a very hot bath.

Just an update. Silodosin not available here so I have been on Flomax for three weeks. So far no noticeable improvement. Side effect is week ejaculation and that's about it. I guess I will stay on it for three months total, but so far there is no reason to think that it is helping.

hey CMT have you tried to see if there is an alternative 'zosin'?

Hytrin is available in all countries, but you will have to see what its called in your country. An example - in Greece hytrin starts with an "X"

try looking online

Thanks I will look into that more. I showed the name Silodosin to the chemist and she said not available in Thailand. But maybe she is misinformed. Really though, if Xatral didn't work and Flomax doesn't work, then perhaps Alpha Blockers aren't going to help me. Really frustrating each time I try a medicine and don't get results. I still believe there has to be something out there that can provide some consistent relief.

CMT - it's worth a try honestly.. I tried Hytrin and it gave me back headaches, so I switched to Rapaflo, although I think Hytrin honestly may be better i am thinking of changing back.

I did some short research and I could fine something called "Rozacin" - I think this would be equivalent to Terazosin (Hytrin) in Thialand. I know someone who is a nurse who speaks Thai, I'll ask her if she can find me the name of Hytrin in Thailand, i'm sure its there.

hi sufferinginpain,

How is the Rapaflo going for you? I've still got another 2 months on the Flomax before I reach 3 months and can decode if it is helping. So far I don't notice anything amazing.

Rapaflo is OK combined with Elavil. It's 8mg, compared to the other higher dosage of 10mg Alpha Blockers. It has some negative side effects such as retrograde ejaculation (Don't be scared of this, at first I couldn't believe that when I had an ejaculation nothing came out, but it's not a big deal - try to focus on the benefits it will give you)

Secondly, I just posted something interesting, check it out:
