Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum but have been dealing with CP/CPPS for over 5 years now. At times it has been very mild to non-existent and other times it's left me completely incapacitated and considering suicide.
It actually took me about 3 years to figure out that my problem was muscle-related. I actually figured out by accident that muscles were involved while doing a stretch that my friend recommended before a workout. It was basically a split while bending the torso forward. I noticed immediately that all the areas that were causing me pain got triggered during this stretch. I started doing the stretch daily to help loosen up the muscles, and it surprisingly worked very well at relieving my pain, although it did not eliminate it.
One thing I noticed after loosening up my groin muscles is that the symptoms evolved. Then went from being centered near the groin and perineum (along with frequent urination and urethral pain while urinating, post-ejaculatory pain, weakened urine and ejaculatory power, and mild ED) to being centered higher up in my lower abdomen and bladder area. Does anyone know why this may have happened?
In any case, I recently decided to start searching for some internal TP's with a small dildo (it's only about 4 inches long) and much to my surprise I could find no tender spots or any areas that reproduced my pain. I was very discouraged by this as I now am starting to think that my symptoms are not muscle-related if I cannot find TP's internally. Can anyone explain why this might be if I had definite muscle tightness in my groin and perineum that responded to stretching? Is the dildo not long enough or should I start searching for another cause of my pain? Thanks!

A HEADACHE IN THE PELVIS will explain why you can experience pain in different areas at different times. A small, straight dildo is completely inadequate for finding trigger points. Some men have had good success with the Theracane.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

Thank you. I will purchase the book and read it. Can a Theracane be used internally? Also, I've heard that a dildo-like device called the Aneros can be useful for massaging the prostate, which means it can also reach the levator ani muscles as well? Have you heard anything about it? Thanks

Yes, look up posts by retired moderator CPPSdad. He used it extensively. Can a Theracane be used internally
Aneros is another option, but does not offer the same leverage.

Re: Can't find trigger points
TPs and muscle tightness are all in a similar space. For me I found my toughest TPs up about 7 inches in and about one inch in along the left dorsal side. The last one still gives my issues to this day and I've had to get much more firm in massaging it to work it out. This might have to do with potential scar tissue that has built up. I've had the condition for many years before realizing what it was. It's become easier to release than it was early on.
TPs aside, muscle tightness and related discomfort and dysfunction happen for me without massive TPs. I actually would say this is more my issue now vs long-standing TPs. I'm now more responding to tightness and muscle group calibration as a more prominent issue. I think most of my TPs are worked out, save the one along the dorsal side. This doesn't mean I couldn't flare myself up and give myself a TP if I wanted to. I just have a better idea of how not to do that these days... It has happened though. ;)
