I've looked through the forums and cannot find much...

Thank you!

@davyboy you should really give "A Headache in the Pelvis" by David Wise and"Heal Pelvic Pain" by Amy Stein a read. It is very unlikely your local bookstore will ever get it as this topic is too specific and not mainstream.

Hey Davyboy, glad to see you've joined the site. Honestly, at first, your going to have to really concentrate on relaxing your pelvic floor, usually at all times. Four months later for me and I kind of by default relax mine now. You just need to constantly remind yourself to relax it. You can also do some relaxation techniques mentioned around this site. Also, there are watches out there that you can set to vibrate at intervals, for instant you can set it to go off every 10 min to remind you to relax it. The mind can easily wander but anything is worth not suffering from this chronic pain anymore. That's the best advice I can give you in regards to relaxing your pelvic floor. Bear in mind that the more relaxed your muscles around your pelvic floor (i.e. abdomen, glutes, hamstrings) are the easier it will be to relax the pelvic floor. So, order the book, it will show you all the stretches necessary to work those particular muscles. For now, while your waiting to receive your copy, just try deep breathing to relax the muscles.
Age: 24 | Onset Age: 17 | Symptoms: Rare flares with debilitating burning at tip of penis. Sometimes strange pain down legs to feet. Sometime Urgency and Frequency as well as hesitation | Helped By: Self therapy as well as once monthly physical therapist meetings. Relaxation of pelvic muscles. Quit Smoking. | Worsened By: pelvic floor tightening. Anxiety

Hi,

I'd suggest getting Amy Stein's book as well as HITP. I found the stretching guidance in Amy's book better than HITP to be honest but that's just my opinion. You need to do the stretching routine at the start of Amy's book to stretch and relax all those muscles. Do them twice a day (more if you can) and take a hot bath afterwards. I also threw in the pigeon pose yoga stretch as well into my stretching routine (google it).

You can get both books HITP and Amy's book Healing Pelvic Pain as ebooks online if your local stores have don't them yet.

Also as suggested already, get a interval timer that vibrates to remind you to relax things down there every 10 minutes. I got the GYMBOSS one mentioned on this site and it's brilliant.

One other tip, I use a meditation machine (Laxman) in addition to paradoxical relaxation. It works wonders to get you into a relaxed state of mind. However I'd suggest applying the effort the learn paradoxical relaxation.

Seriously you have to stick with this stuff, you won't see instant results overnight.

Just my 2 pence worth.
