New guy to this forum. Hi to all !!!

Post by Ilkinho »

Hi All,

Here's my story: Everything started when I was about 17, started to have occasional discomfort in perineum and feeling to urinate and also happens during the night. Doctors diagnosed me with overactive bladder and I believe them as indeed sometimes I have urgency in the bladder when it's not full, but I also have the symptoms noted above.

I don't know if I have chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome but those symptoms are similar to what I read for CPPS. I don't have any pain, only discomfort and need to urinate more often at times. The most annoying thing is having to wake up and go to the toilet because of that - I do it usually once or twice during the night and sometimes have difficulties falling asleep again. Have done all kinds of tests on bladder and prostate - nothing has been found. I also tried various medications with no effect. Also the symptoms related to chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome get worse if my feet get cold or I drink alcohol and coffee sometimes.

My work is computer related so I decided to take breaks every hour or so because too much sitting increases the symptoms sometimes.

I mostly put up with the problem and can live with it, except for the sleep when I can't get back easily to sleep again after waking up to urinate.

Can you suggest something for me? I'm looking to buy that book called "A headache in the Pelvis", maybe that could help.

I feel best when I'm positive and don't think about the problems I have, when I think about them and delve deeper things get worse both emotionally and physically. Right now I'm in a bit of catastrophic thinking mood so I find a bit of relief from reading on this forum.

I've found that acceptance of problems works best for me. Can you suggest a list of things I can try to get relief from my symptoms, at least those chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome related?

I think it's stupid to give up my job as a computer programmer because of these symptoms, I'm self employed and think doing breaks every hour will help me not to have that much discomfort. What do you think about that? Are there any other guys here with computer related jobs? I really enjoy my work and am a positive person but at moments these problems just blow my head away as I'm very sensitive person.
Age: 25 Onset: 17 Current symptoms unchanged since then - frequency and urgency in the bladder and when I have a flare also in the perineum, mild discomfort in the perineum, nocturia. Helped by: ignoring the problem (not very good I think) Not helped by: anxiety, alcohol, sometimes caffeine, carbonated drinks

You're new, so spend some time reading the forums before asking questions.

I was in computers, and I had to give it up, but then I never had any of the knowledge you guys have now. See how you go!

Why did you give up your job? Because of the chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome or another reason? Thanks for the other replies.

What is CFS by the way?

I think I'm having some of the symptoms from chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome because of my overactive bladder and not actually having any chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome ...

Hey webslave, you said you gave up your computer job, but I'm curious how much time do you spend now daily in front of the PC on average and do you take any breaks? Response greatly appreciated.

I thought it would be less :P take breaks all the time does it mean every hour or something else ? I've set a program to remind me get up every hour. Thank you in advance, this forum is great for sharing our experiences.

Don't compare yourself to me, I'm cured for a long time now. If you have active CP/CPPS, use a timer of some sort (such as this GYMBOSS) to remind you to take breaks much more regularly.

Gymboss (note that intervals and times shown below are for a particular exercise activity, and you can change all the settings to suit yourself):

Also see viewtopic.php?f=7&t=5307 (Firefox addon for reminding you to relax).

Maybe I'll try the Firefox plugin. I don't compare myself to you I was just wondering now since you're cured how do you remind yourself to take breaks and how often. Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi webslave,

I ordered the book "A headache in the Pelvis" and I know this internal PT has helped a lot here but I'm super afraid not to do any harm by using the wand. I will go to a physiotherapist in Holland that knows the Wise-Anderson protocol and she will teach me but I'm still very afraid when I start doing the trigger point therapy not to harm myself. It's like a panic attack, I already have problems sleeping but tonight I couldn't sleep because of this fear from the wand and the consequences it can produce but I also know it's probably the best way to help myself.

Since you're very experienced let me ask you do you know of any guys in here that have done damage to themselves by using the wand. I know internal PT has helped in a lot of cases !

I searched the forum for risks and you mention some perforation "It's very rare, but you can damage the membranous urethra, or you could perforate the bowel. "

To be honest, I have never heard of a case of anyone harming themselves yet

It is possible though, in theory.

As always webslave helps with his adequate replies :) That certainly made me feel better.

I was afraid because of the long term usage of this wand and whether you can hit a wrong spot and damage yourself?

Also since you're saying you're cured now, do you still do Internal PT?

Don't press directly on the prostate.

I have not done internal PT for almost 20 years

Thanks for the advice. I'm hoping to achieve similar results as you (as all of the guys here want of course) :)

You haven't written in your signature what were your symptoms and when did they start, why not? You encourage people to describe it in their signatures but you haven't done it.

Can you briefly write me about your story.

You're very helpful to me webslave, thanks again.
