Can you get prostatitis via sex with no other side effects?

Post by jasno999 »

I never was found to have an outward signs of a STD or anyhting. Nor do I think my girlfriend was in any way sleepign with other guys or doign other things while we were doing things.

She did find out at the same time that I had prostatitis that she had HPV and she had one polyup that formed and needed to be removed.

My point is that I never got blood or other tests for the STDs that are commonly associated with prostatits. I had no signs or symptoms and the doctor put me on antibiotics that would have cleared any of the STDs up anyway. He put me one the antibiotics for the prostatitis. But still I have pain and I think it is chronic prostatitis that I have.

What I am worried about is that I got this about 3 days after having unprotected sex with my girlfriend. I have done that before but anly about 4-5 times. I am wondering if somehow this sex caused the prostatitis? COuld that occur with no other STD or anyhting?

And what do you guys know of any relationship betewwn HPV and prostatitis?

PCR tests have not shown a strong or unique relationship between any micro-organism and CPPS.

Correlating onset of symptoms with sexual activity is not rewarding, but I se it all the time. As soon as some men see or feel something wrong with their genitals, they immediate look back to their last sexual encounter. It's not uncommon for men to ask if the woman they slept with 2 months ago could be at fault. :P

Yes I did that myself.

So should I assume that the probability is that she is in no way to blame or should I be worried?

Sex without a condom seems to irritate my CP also . I tried sex without a condom 4 days ago and am slightly irritated . But I also went tubing on a river 2 days in a row . That may have helped to irritate things too . I will have to see what the next few days are like .

I am a 40 year old woman, my partner is 44 and he is suffering with prostatitis. His first "flare up" came immediately after our first sexual contact. We have been together for 2 years.
We were both tested for STD's. Neither of us had, or ever have had an STD. However I have since taken antibiotics with him, hoping that would help.
It didn't.
Is there any history of this being an "allerigic reaction" to a particular woman? Can some people just not "mesh" chemically?
We have only protected sex, and oral sex does not irritate him. It seems to be just "me" that kicks it off.
HELP!!!
Any information would be GREATLY appreciated.
I hope that my being female doesn't put anyone off on responding to me.
I love my boyfriend very much, and I want to help him.
Thanks :62_58_40:

LN , myself and my wife have been dealing with this for about 2 yrs . The first flare up I had was after sex and then no flare ups for a year and a half . CP went away , or so I thought and had unprotected sex and it flared up again . We both tried anti-biotics at that point and did not help at all . Lots of stress on the mariage . We went with using condoms for about a year and no flare ups but I have also been following the protocol on this web site and have been getting better . Had unprotected sex a week ago and am feeling some pain . not a major flare up but still not a good sign . will go back to condoms . So I do not believe it is you . It is a side effect of this CP . Get him reading on this web site . Knowledge is a good tool to fight this condition . Good Luck .

Unprotected sex leads to greater neural stimulation and could therefore exacerbate symptoms. Everyone knows that a condom lowers the degree of sensation.

Here's a new one: use condoms to keep symptoms at bay!

In fact, it's not a joke. I've added comment to that effect at

Thanks for the responses.
The one question that did not get addressed, perhaps because it is not a legitmate concern is could he just be "allergic" to me?
Or would this follow him into subsequent relationships?
We always use condoms, and his symptoms rise & fall. Never going away. He is on Cipro again, and feels some relief. Not much.
Have any of you felt this way with more than one partner? Or canyou isolate it to one woman?

It has nothing to do with you, Madam. chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome symptoms wax and wane for all men. Maybe he should join this board and do some reading?
