Re: New member - My story (hope you like to read!)
I've been practicing moment to moment relaxation of my pelvic floor muscles as well as light exercise and stretching and I've noticed a lot of improvement over the last week. Pain is back down to a manageable level and I have moments where I completely forget about it.
My case of chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome is entirely related to stress/anxiety and clenching...as soon as I focus on relaxing my pelvis my pain subsides after a few days.
Cheers,
Kevin

Your story is the same as mine with the same thoughts...your personality is very similar to mine...I'm almost done with my MD and there's residency lurking soon ahead..with long hours, no control over my time...
I'll come back with a longer post tomorrow with what has helped me

I had another session with my PT, things are going really well, 4th time going internal.
Kevin, you should give her a try! I've posted my e-mail.

Back to normal again. Stretching and focusing on relaxing my pelvic muscles (that feeling right before you pee) has been my savior (and a positive attitude).
Best of luck anyone reading this!

Re: New member - My story (hope you like to read!)
Back again....started stressing over my career path as I'm not feeling very fulfilled in my current job. Started thinking and I'll admit, wayyyy overthinking about my career and what would make me feel fulfilled and I can't come up with anything. A few days of this kicked me right into full on depressive thinking (hopeless, worthless). I thought about changing career paths into becoming a teacher as I am really into the power of education..but I don't think I have it in me to return to at least 2 more years of university, quit my job, borrow money etc...it all seems overwhelmingly stressful.
I'm now married to the wonderful woman I described in my first post and she has been the light of my life. I just wish I didn't have to drag her down with this. I have massive character flaws that I recognize in myself but for whatever reason, can't stop from thinking. I value money way too much, I look at people's job titles as a sign of their intelligence, and all of my closest friends are either engineers, doctors or lawyers, so I benchmark myself against them. I know this is wrong but the thoughts just enter my head. I have to come to terms with the fact that I am not them, and I am not going to be a high flying business man, as I cannot deal with the stress effectively.
I was on such a good roll, I got married in January, bought a house in February and have had a great year. Then all of a sudden I start thinking of the future and if I'm happy and it just destroys me. I felt like crying all day yesterday and just curling up in a ball. My pain is back to a 7/10 from a 0 or 1/10....it's terrifying that this can happen just from my thoughts.
I'm still on 100mg of zoloft, though I am going to increase the dosage for now...I've been stretching but am not relaxed at all. I know from experience that I can beat this, as I have twice before in a short time frame. It gives me hope, but what I hope for most is that I can learn to be happy with a regular 9-5 job that has little stress but offers not a whole lot of fulfilment, I'll have to look for it in other ways.

WIth moment to moment relaxation, light stretching and calming the F*@$ down
, I can feel that my symptoms are starting to quiet down to a low level background sensation that I can go for a few hours of forgetting about it (mostly when standing).
Sitting all day at work seems to be the worst offender in slowing down this flare up...has anyone had any luck with stand-up desks?
Cheers,
Kevin
