Hello All
I believe I am in the beginning stages of IBS and I am trying to stop this problem from developing into full blown IBS
It started because ever since I have masturbated after having chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome I usually get a worsening of symptoms, this in turn has caused me to develop guilt and anxiety whenever I masturbate because I know I am making things worse for myself even though I know its only temporary pain I get. As of now even though the pain is so little after I masturbate usually I still get this guilt/anxiety response, and I can't stop it from happening.
It seems to be a response I have trained myself to go through whenever I masturbate even if I now tell myself its not a problem because this response has been happening for a few years. At first it was not a problem it was just some temporary anxiety during masturbation, then the anxiety eventually caused me to immediately stop masturbation and have a bowel movement (usually diarrhea or loose stools) , this was also not too much of a concern, as I only had a strong need to go during masturbation. But now after masturbating once a few months ago it has become something of a permanent condition meaning I get the same immediate urge to go have a bowel movement almost every day about three times a day regardless of if I masturbate or not (I even tried stopping masturbation 2 months but it didn't help). Also my stools are almost always loose and messy to clean up. Its uncomfortable and very annoying. It now also seems to be able to be triggered by anxiety caused from other every day issues
Basically this little anxiety problem during masturbation has turned into what seems to be IBS. I can't enjoy masturbating anymore and these urgent feeling bowel movements with loose stools are a pain in the ass.
I think that it may be appropriate for me to seek a psychiatrist to treat my anxiety with masturbation issue, but I think I need something else now to treat the physical symptoms of IBS as it has turned into something with a mind of its own now. I have read online suggestions for diet etc I know different foods effect individuals differently. I have a very healthy diet most of the time I'm just going to try to eliminate gluten containing grains for now. Dairy products actually help me as they slow down the rate of my bowel movements. Any other suggestions to treat these IBS symptoms?
Any suggestions on what I can do?
Any advice is appreciated
thank you

I'm getting IBS and I dont know how to stop it, please help!
Age: 25 | Onset Age: 19 | Symptoms: cloudy white urine (most frequently in the colder months of the year), pain in testicles (very infrequent and mild nowdays, used to be 24/7 and bad for like at least 1 1/2 years), pain in lower back (now virtually nonexistant, used to be 24/7), muscle spasm in perineum area (during sexual activity, extreme stress/injury, sneezing, and when changing position when lying down), dribbling after urination, weak urine stream, a feeling of not emptying completely after urination, sometimes hesitancy starting, golfball feeling in rectum at times (usually relieved/lessened by defecation), premature ejaculation, little pleasure when ejaculating too quickly from masturbating, weak erections most of the time (and even if they have some strength sometimes, usually it goes limp after a few minutes), white particulate matter in semen most of time, | Helped By: Relaxation | Worsened By: ejaculation, or any kind of sexual activity, especially prolonged arousal without touching my genitals, spicy foods, hard excercises, prolonged sitting

You are asking a big question here, one to which doctors do not have an answer. We do know that IBS is co-morbid with CP/CPPS and IC/BPS, so the fact that you are developing the condition is not unusual. My quick comment is that the same things that exacerbate chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome probably exacerbate IBS too.

Thanks for the reply, yes I know its a big question with no real answers and I know many people with chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome also have IBS, I just wanted to see if anybody had any tips for getting rid of it or at least the symptoms. My chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome has been and is pretty much under control these days. This is not to say its gone but it rarely bothers me too much now in terms of pain. However my IBS symptoms are not so good, and since they are kind of a new thing I just have not found out how to control them yet I suppose. You are asking a big question here, one to which doctors do not have an answer. I've had IBS since long before my chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome really developed, at first IBS-D, then IBS-C. Although there's really no getting rid of it, it's not the end of the world. There can be triggers, such as stress or certain foods, which you will come to recognize over time. Food's my big issue, but keeping to a pretty tame diet helps a lot.
I'd add that, if this is a personal diagnosis, you should really see your GP or a gastro. You want to make sure that IBS is the problem. They may also have other suggestions for you, meds or otherwise.

I am not a physician. This is not medical advice. Consult your doctor!

Testicular pain, perineum pain, burning/irritative urination, extended pain after ejaculation. Occasionally, some allodynia or ache in the coccyx/sacrum/thigh/buttocks/legs. Diagnosis: Pelvic floor dysfunction, degenerated lumbar disk, and mildly herniated lumbar disk. Helped By: Physical therapy, pain management doctor, hot baths, therapy pool, stretching regimen, breathing exercises, relaxation, distraction. Hello, I too have a similar sort of problem, however I seem to have curbed my symptoms quite a bit. About a year ago I noticed a gradual increase in the frequency of my bowel movements. These bowel movements, however, did not release much, but were thin, long, and unfortunately...sticky. To rid myself of these symptoms I tried various diet plans and fiber therapies, resulting only in minimal alleviation. During this time I was also making numerous trips to the urologist to treat CPPS, but my doctor believed I possibly had Bacterial Prostatitis and prescribed me a large dose of Cipro. Within hours of taking my first dose of Cipro, my bowel movements returned to normal, it was incredible! Until the end of my dose my bowel movements maintained within this state. After this incident I made an attempt to understand what possibly could of caused my stomach to return to its normal state. On the internet I discovered a new theory on specific cases of IBS, labeled SIBO (small intestine bacteria overgrowth). Apparently there is no cure, however, probiotics and antimicrobial supplements help decrease the amount of bacteria. Since then I have purchased several probiotics in attempt find the best one. From my experience the probiotics which seem to work the best are align and natures way probifia bifidus and saccharomyces boulardii. I believe there is also a probiotic you can get as a prescrition called vsl#3, you might want to check that out as well.

Yes, it is a self-diagnosis so I should probably get it checked out by a professional, for me it seems to be IBS-D only for now, thanks for your input.I've had IBS since long before my chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome really developed, at first IBS-D, then IBS-C. Very interesting, thank you for this information. I have not heard of this being a cause of IBS before. I will look into this as well.Hello, I too have a similar sort of problem, however I seem to have curbed my symptoms quite a bit.
