Question for moderators

Post by Sherradin »

I have been steadily improving and was left over the last few months with only muscular pain from sitting at day end. I had not had bladder pain for months which I think I took for granted.

Was tolerating wine and chocolate occasionally with probiotics and fruit. All these things I had been unable to tolerate for years. However I get thrush all the time which is how this thing started. AS a kid I had a bone marrow disease that needed massive doses of antibiotics and then the years of bladder pain I was given loads more. SO I know I need probiotics.

I had been tolerating pills with 45 Billion in them but decided to go full bore on the candida diet and add high potency VSL3# a probiotic that has 450 billion per sachet. I had a sachet! Slam dunked my bladder and I remember now how awful it can be..that ache and wanting to wee.

Anyway some advice. I think I give the industrial strength stuff to my family who never have problems with probiotics and go back to a bland diet and try to settle things again and then add the lower dose probiotic. Every time I have tried the VSL3# I have a flare. And it $100 a packet!

Thoughts? and please let this settle ...as David Wise says in HITP you forget the pain when its gone
CPP since 2005. Prior to CPP always overly fit and active. I am female. Had two natural births: singleton 1998 and twins 2000. 2002 emergency back surgery - L5S1 herniation. Then recurring UTIs. Usual antibiotic overload. Then constant debilitating burning bladder and reaction to many foods. Australian Pain Clinic 2007. Turning point was Dec 2009 Attended Wise Clinic in Santa Rosa USA.
Was helped by strict diet but now eating normally after years of restricted diet - wonderful. Helped by: stretching, relaxation, yoga, trigger point, warm baths. Worsened by: stress, sitting, abdominal or glute exercises and salicylates
Medication: Now off all pain clinic meds no more Endone or Elavil only Lyrica 50 mg as Dec 2010 just reherniated L5S1disc and had discectomy. Its taken years but I feel I am over it.

VSL3# ingredients include maltose, natural lemon flavor, silicon dioxide. You may be reacting to maltose, a fermentation byproduct. Or the lemon aspect, if you are citrus-sensitive (common).
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

Thanks for the fast reply. DO U EVER SLEEP?

Anyway after three months of no pain in the bladder anyway its disheartening to go back to the bland diet until it settles down. Maltose is sugar and I shouldn't have that on the Candida diet. So what was I thinking?

You'll eventually identify your specific food triggers. Remember the years of nerve activation in the bladder have multiplied the number of mast cells in the bladder lining, making it more reactive to food irritants/acids etc.
