UCPPS is well known to wax and wane without rhyme or reason. Stop trying to understand the disorder. You need anxiolytic medications and physical therapy.

Why not find out as much as I can about it? How come you say Wheat gives you a flare up if its from muscle tension and anxiety?

I'm not disagreeing with anything your saying.. I just wanna understand it better.. and I can't find any literature that explains these things besides "A Headache in the Pelvis"

But even in that book, Dr Wise says he believes erection issues are psychological - as a side effect of other symptoms.. but that doesn't seem to be the case for me.. I noticed weak erections before other symptoms, and before I knew I had prostatitis .. if it irritates the nerves, surely it can effect erections?
Age: 22 | Onset Age: 22 | Symptoms: Weak Erections, Low Libido, Cloudy/white urine at end of stream (gone now), Occasional twinges of pain around anus/inside anus, Weak Ejaculation/Orgasm | Helped By: Not sure yet.. but using vitamins (saw palmetto, pygeum, etc.), consciously relaxing pelvis during the day. | Worsened By: Stress, Tension in pelvis, Alcohol (sometimes), and maybe excessive ejaculation/excitement

Wheat can be a nerve poison, see the appropriate thread in the allergies forum.

I've already shown you that erection issues are partly psychological (anxiety, depression etc). You now say that's not the case for you, after admitting to anxiety issues.

Well what I'm saying is, I agree that the psychological aspect has an effect on erections.. but the first two symptoms I noticed was cloudy/white pee at end of stream and lackluster erections. This was before I had any reason to worry about my prostate.. I didn't even know what prostatitis was. Its conceivable that, the initial erection problem was "all in my head" but I find it hard to believe that I would start having psychologically caused erection problems and prostatitis at the same time.. but its possible. It seems much more likely that, as Dr. Zeitlin seems to agree, the nerves that supply erection are being irritated. Since being told I have prostatitis by Dr. Krisiloff I developed some performance anxiety, anxiety about my erections.. thats a little better now but its still a problem.. which no doubt can effect my erections.. but I really believe there is/was a physical cause.. I can't say for sure about the libido, at first I thought it was purely psychological but, if my attitude hasnt changed, I dont see why I could be really horny one day, and then not the next.. unless thats just normal for everyone and I'm just hyper aware of it / blowing it out of proportion.

I'm curious though.. why does Dr. Wise not think that prostate inflammation / pelvic muscle irritation/inflammation has no effect on erections ? when the nerves run right through this area and around the prostate?

How can we tell you why Dr Wise thinks this or that? And why do you think that understanding the exact cause of your fluctuating libido will help you get better? You've been told that waxing and waning of symptoms, including libido, is typical of UCPPS. Of course the nerves are involved. But the prostate per se is not involved in the strength of erections. Dr Wise is a psychologist. His speciality is treating the mental aspects of this condition, and Tim Sawyer is an expert on the muscle trigger points. Their specialities do not extend to the neurology of the condition, so use the other resources of this forum to come to a complete view.

Your constant questioning of the etiology of the condition is merely symptomatic of your anxiety and hypervigilance, and will actually do nothing to help you get better.
