Hi, everyone. I'm new to the board, and I was just wondering what medications or other treatments tend to work for urinary symptoms brought about by Chronic Prostatitis?
I've suffered with CP for almost a decade now, with gradually worsening sexual problems and urinary symptoms. The most frustrating symptom for me currently is frequent urination. I'm urinating about once every 1.5 hours on a good day and once every 1 hour (or a little more frequently) on a bad day. It makes it very hard to sit through a movie. Does anyone have any insight into what will help with this? Medication? Sitting on donuts regularly? I'm open to ideas here. Flomax hasn't seemed to work very well, but I'm considering going on it for a couple months and seeing if that makes a difference...
On the bright side, I've been on any accredited quercetin product for a couple weeks and it really cleared up the congestion and yellowness in my semen. Also, for better or worse, as sexual sensation has decreased from years of prostatitis flareups, so has pain, so I'm usually feeling something more like mild discomfort during a flareup rather than full-on pain. But like I said, the urinary symptoms are still there, and that's frustrating.
As an aside, I wish I had turned to the internet for help with this earlier. My doctor was an idiot--I was prescribed antibiotics for years without having ever tested positive for any bacterial infection. (I guess I was an idiot too for letting him.) It totally screwed up my digestive system, and stopped working altogether after a few years. And the two doctors I've seen had never even heard of Quercetin.
Thanks in advance.

What medication works for urinary symptoms?
Age: 27 | Onset Age: 19 | Symptoms: Frequent urination, inflammation after sex/masturbation, discolored semen. Used to have various pain, but not much now. | Helped By: Relaxing my pelvic floor whenever possible, leg stetches, Prosta-Q(?), Flomax(?) | Worsened By: Clamping my pelvic floor, especially during sexual stimulation. Idiot urologists who prescribed antibiotics over and over.

I encourage anxiety prone UCPPS people to consider L-Theanine
Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

Re: What medication works for urinary symptoms?
Thanks, I'll look into that. What sort of doctor would I go to to get my pelvic floor assessed?
