I live near DC. The doctor I saw was E. James Wright, the chief of urology at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and a specialist in Neurourology. He typically treats females for CPPS, but is knowledgeable enough about prostatitis. Anyone else you'd recommend?

When I say pain was not a usual symptom, I'm actually wrong. I'm misremembering, since it's been a year since I've had sex. Sometimes after a vigorous session of sex, I'd feel the same pain I'm feeling right now. It's almost an identical feeling. However, ejaculation seems to *relieve* this discomfort.
Also, I haven't had blue balls in almost seven years, and I suspect that the fact that I've had that particular misfortune twice in two weeks is not helping things. (My new girlfriend is pretty much doing the opposite of rushing things, which is totally okay except for thse consequences.) It's not the cause, but it's not helping.

You need to look outside the urology set. There are a lot of good therapists on the East coast.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

I wish I had a PPO instead of an HMO. None seem to be covered by my insurance. I've started to go to Bethesda Physiocare, but I'm going to deplete my savings quickly (half my paycheck per month if I go to two sessions a week, with rent being the other half). Granted, I'd be willing to deplete my savings to be even 50% better, but I have to be sure it will work. Do you think it can really undo what I did to myself?

I'm not sure you've done anything to yourself. Some of this could simply be you catastrophizing about what may have happened. You need to make proper treatment a priority because everything else in your life depends on it. Perhaps call David Wise and get his personal recommendation for someone in your area?

I found a therapist recommended by the place Tim recommended, if that makes sense. And they do work closely with the place Tim recommended. I see them on Friday.
[Edit]
They're also out of network. Crap.
