What is best?
I tried taking any accredited quercetin product a couple months back but it was only for one month. It did not help and now am trying Saw Pametto. It doesnt seem to be working either but again its only been about one month. Has anybody ever been in this situation, where they were taking a supplement and at first it wasn't working but had to wait for awhile for it to work? And what supplements worked for you? Thanks.
Age:26 | Onset Age:24 Nov. 2008 | Symptoms:Sharp pain deep in the urethra right above the testicles at the base of penis, dribbling at the end of very painfull urination with a weak stream, on and off frequent urination. Pain in the perineum. Premature ejaculation and weak dribbling ejaculate. Helped BY: Stretching, external PT, relaxation(although this is very hard to do.) The verdict is still out on the internal for me. Attended the Wise clinic and was told my main problem was my abs. I have two trigger points internal but I can't seem to find any relief from the wand, but practice makes perfect. For everyone that has had a bacterial infection ruled out by a doctor then CPPS just might be your problem. Look into the Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol. Its very insightful and worth the money. Remember, dont give up!

You would proberly need to give any supplement 3 months to see a difference but only Quercetin has been proved to help on some chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome patients .
Age:33 | Onset Age:19 | Symptoms:burning urethra, deep sore stinging around the perineum, dribbling | Helped By:when flare starts deep relaxing over a toilet to let out dribbling urine, hot bath, rubbing a heat cream on the perineum, Tens with a pad on the perineum, running, medication (solpadol) for pain. Current treatment: PT. | Worsened By:sitting, stressing over it, ejaculation, sometimes alcohol but I risk it. Been feeling a lot better last 6 months about 85% with a few flares lasting about 5 days. No longer having PT. Stretching every other night and I believe time is also a big factor for me

Yeah that's what I figured. I shouldn't have given up on it so easily. I was also on antibiotics at the time so. I am thinking to try it again. Give it a few months and then if it doesn't help I can move on from it.

It's important to know that any accredited quercetin product should not be taken with antibiotics because it binds to the AB's which reduces it's effectiveness...give a second go around with out being on AB's...

I encourage anxiety prone UCPPS people to consider L-Theanine
Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

Re: What is best?
Carl,
I have already purchased the book Headache In the Pelvis and have just begun to start reading it. I read your starter list for new members and am very interested in starting the internal PT. The bad thing for me is that I am currently on a U.S. Navy ship serving my country, which makes it hard for me to get help from a qualified Physician. Not to mention I am serving overseas which makes it a lot harder to find one. Is it at all possible for the time being to do this by yourself? Does it explain the techniques in the Wise book? Bacterial Prostatitis has pretty much been ruled out for me and I have read about a lot of people having success in healing there symptoms with PT. I feel like after all the failed antibiotics that I am not sure where to go from here. The pain in terrible and its all the time. I try to stay positive and focused on my work but its really tough.

Re: What is best?
Josh, apart from all the usual advice, I'd like to point out that there may be something about your environment that is helping to perpetuate the condition. Perhaps the food you're eating in the Navy, the level of alcohol ingestion, the use of drugs (?), or the stress you experience, even if only subconsciously, in a rigid military environment, possibly in a hostile location, far from home. Just some things to think about.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

Re: What is best?
I definitely see what you are saying and it makes sense. I definitely think that I could cut back some on the alcohol, you seem to know about sailors and there drinking
With the stress though I have been on a ship for about five years now and yes it has been very stressful. But I am about to transfer to shore duty and am actually at one of my most less stressed times. Don't get me wrong its still stressful but I have a hard time believing it caused it. The environment might be making my symptoms worse because I am stressed out more than I would be if I wasn't on a ship. But yes you are right it is something good to think about. I do plan to get out of the stressful military environment after my three years of shore duty.

Conan the Barbarian, of course. ;)
I am not a physician. This is not medical advice. Consult your doctor!
Age: 26 Onset Age: 17 Symptoms: Shooting, nerve-like pains throughout the penis, which abruptly hit and leave. Testicular pain, perineum pain, burning/irritative urination, extended pain after ejaculation. Occasionally, some allodynia or ache in the coccyx/sacrum/thigh/buttocks/legs. Diagnosis: Pelvic floor dysfunction, degenerated lumbar disk, and mildly herniated lumbar disk. Helped By: Physical therapy, pain management doctor, hot baths, therapy pool, stretching regimen, breathing exercises, relaxation, distraction. Worsened By: Arousal/ejaculation (worst), constipation, panicking/obsessing, other triggers depend upon current symptoms. Tests/Prior Treatments: Too many antibiotics to count, multiple urine tests (all normal), testicular ultrasound (normal), bladder and renal ultrasound (normal), lumbar and pelvic MRI with and w/o contrast (revealed disk problems), Elavil 25mg (caused retention), Flomax 0.4mg.
