Re: Cost of PT... What are people paying
I am paying $120 a session, which is going to force me to try my own internal work. My insurance won't cover my specific PT. HMO's suck. To bad you are not in my area as my PT may be looking for volunteers to help her train the PT's who work for her.
Age 32, onset 32 Onset Aug 07- frequency was main problem in the beginning-really bad. Now 1 to 2x per night when frequency flairs up. Sore and tight lower abdominal muscles. Occasional burning after bowel movement and full feeling. What helps: Healthy diet(this is huge for me) Started drinking super greens supplament and almost going totally vegetarian to get body more alkaline, starting Prosta-Q, quercetin/zinc tablet in morning helped frequency problem I believe. Massaging abs and doing stretches helps calm down frequency when it is acting up. Wine or vodka after long day. Flexeral and melatonin at night. Swimming and light weights. .5 of Elavil every other day helps with frequency and healing process. Trying to stay positive and not stressing over this!

Re: Cost of PT... What are people paying
I have finally got around to booking to see Bill Taylor in Scotland in March. For the initial appointment (2hours) it is £100. After that, it is £75 per hour appointment. So I guess to convert that to US Dollars you would come close to doubling the figures.....
Age: 33 | Onset Age: 32 Initial Symptoms: Frequent urination Current Symptoms: The odd feeling of frequency but not much else Helped By: Not thinking about it, hot bath, red wine, light exercise, Bowen technique seems to help, getting on with my life Worsened By: catastrophic thinking, worrying things will get worse, feeling depressed, reading websites too often! Work! Sitting in work all day isn't good!! Current Progress : Since 1st Sept 08, no pain!!! :)

I went to the Stanford Clinic, and now do my own work. I feel I can do it better than any PT, aside from Tim himself. I have a map of the areas and know my body best.
So initial outlay of 5,000, but havent spent a dime on it since.

$100 for 45 minutes, cash pay last year. Insurance starts paying this year, minus 10%.
My PT took pity earlier and charged me $42 for a 15 minute session but worked with me for an hour. That went on for months until she moved to a new employer.
Northwest US.

Re: Cost of PT... What are people paying
I'm paying $200 a session for PT from Liz Rummer in San Francisco. She and her colleague worked for Dr. Weiss but moved on to their own practice after feeling like PT was working much better than the complicated procedures he was pursuing. It's freaking expensive and the insurance only covers $25 of it. I'm working to see if I can remedy that at all.

I see Tina L. Baum in Las Vegas, NV.
Currently, she accepts most PPO insurance although she has mentioned that she is considering converting to a cash-based practice.
Until I meet my deductible, each 30-45 minute session is ~$70 - $100

Re: Cost of PT... What are people paying
Hi there,
My PT charged $140 per appointment, and doesn't take insurance other than Medicare. There's a brief chat at the start to review my current issues, but the session is otherwise hands-on for the entire hour. Since I travel a few hours to see her, she's generous enough to give me extra time when she can.
For financial reasons, I haven't gone back in a while, but I plan to return as soon as some other things work out. I continue to do stretching and self-applied PT in the interim.

Re: Cost of PT... What are people paying
I'm at Beyond Basics Physical Therapy in NYC. They charge a total of something like $300 for most sessions (this is for people with insurance that covers out-of-network service), and I end up paying about $90 or so. If you don't have insurance, I think they charge something closer to $150 for a session (45 min).

Re: Cost of PT... What are people paying?
This is my pet concern with the current treatment paradigm for pelvic pain. The costs involved and the reality that it is not covered under insurance in most cases is a barrier to treatment. Not many in our society can afford open ended outlays of 200 dollars a session and up, as I was paying in NYC. This is compounded with the uncertainty of who among the PT's actually knows what they are doing. I can tell you that even in 2006, when I tried my last PT sessions, professional evidence such as providing a pelvic map and guidance were not there, even among NY PT's who have been favourably spoken about in this forum.
If I were a single man with no responsibilities I would pay the 5 grand in a heartbeat to go to Santa Rosa for the best treatment. But as a father and husband I have to get by on a less elite plan.

Re: Cost of PT... What are people paying
My PT here is charging €28 for 30 minutes. On this, half is reimbursed to me by social security, and nearly all the rest is being taken care of by my private insurance. So for one hour, "price" is €56, of which I only pay something like €5. This is the price if I go under a doctor recommendation, which I have, and which will now be very easily re-granted.
The prices you guys are paying looks unreal from here, even if here it's so cheap because of taxes we otherwise pay.

Age: 31 Location: France Symptoms: right epididymis pain, testicular soreness and pain, pain after ejaculation, gulf ball in rectum (now gone), pain at tip of penis (now gone), bent penis when in pain (not Peyronie's), burning after ejaculation, weird right testicular positions, big and painful lymph nodes (now gone). Makes worse: sex, tiredness, anxiety, cold Makes better: hot climate, stretches.
