One of my favorite Mark quotes is "pain will be your teacher"

Jo we have all been there...through the wax and wane and pushing our selves hard when we start to feel better...Your lesson has been learned... Glad you have a good PT...This is golden...

Yes, I learned my lesson for sure - the hard way.
Slow and steady is my motto from now on.
Today I finally made it back to the health club for my Mile walk.
I had to take it extra slow - it's all still pretty tender.
I also forgot to mention that it is 6 weeks today that I've gone completely gluten & sugar free.
I've gone hardcore Vegan - no animal products or byproducts.
Nothing pre-packaged.
Learned how to make soy tea lattes and dropped coffee.
Oddly - I've been able to completely stop taking insulin - my bloodsugars are completely normal.
I've also lost 19 pounds.
I've tried every healthy diet known to man and have never been able to lose weight.
So my Dr. wants to send me to get a complete blood panel.
It tests for allergies and sensitivities trace mineral deficiencies - everything.
So that's all good news.
The only problem I'm having is that I'm only taking one or 2 dumps a week.
So I bought a strong Acido/Bifidus supplement today - I hope it helps.
I was used to drinking Prune juice - but it has so much naturally occuring sugar in it - I'm afraid it will raise my bloodsugar.
I don't know what I hit on - but I hit on something right - I just need to find out what it is now.
Also - surprisingly - I'm not having a hard time at all with this diet - I feel like I could do it for life.
I'm also doing my Biofeedback breathing for 20 minutes 3 times a day - so that could be helping too.
The breathing work takes discipline - stopping your day and trying to get to that "place" - is hard for me - I can't always do it - but the only way to fail is to give up - right.
About The 16th Protocol:
Yes - I'm a fan too - haha - it really helped me when I needed it desperately.
This was a woman from the MyoPain Center.
She said they have dozens of Protocals and this particular one was for overworking abdominals - she said to trust her - that she was positive I wasn't seriously injured internally and to just do it on faith.
And I did.
I sure wish out of the half dozen Uro's I have seen in the past 4 years - one of them would have steered me in the right direction when this first started - and not overdosed me with antibiotics.
I was on Antibiotics up until Thanksgiving 2008.
At several points they had me taking 2 different ones at the same time.
I shudder to think what that has done to my immune system.
This has been long road for me - I came into this already I'll - I've been I'll on and off since I was 19 years old.
Boy, am I tired.
Thanks guys...
Joseph
Age:46 | Onset Age:42 (first occurence Age 17). | Symptoms: A belt of pain that wraps around my waist radiating down my groin & into testicles. Also: Radiating from hips down thighs, Urinary urgency even after voiding, lightning bolts of pain that shoot through my rectum, penis & perineum, muscle spasms in my bottocks, fear of sexual arousal or erection. | Helped By: Hot Water Therapy, RSA Breathing, Pacing more than sitting, Avoiding Negative People, Painting & Writing, Painkillers. | Worsened By: Wearing Pants, Anger, Panic, Depression, Stress, Vigorous Sex, Prolonged Sitting, Constipation, Abrupt Movements, Lifting/Carrying anything more than a Gallon of Milk, Forgetting to do the above things I'm helped by. *Ejaculation is a Mixed bag: It definitely relieves pressure & pain in my Abdomen (as well as a good emotional release) - But, causes bigtime burning in my penis & perineum for 10-45 minutes after.

Well yesterday I went back to the Health Club again - did my Mile walk - but it is causing pain (groin/inner thighs/butt cheeks).
Damn!
I swear - I walked that track like a turtle - seriously took it extra easy.
I'm afraid to stop doing any and all exercise.
Don't wana' get too stiff.
Frustrating.
Thanks...

When my pelvis was in an uproar I could barely waddle around a shopping center. Take it easy.

UPDATE:
2nd Appointment w Physical Therapist.
It went very well.
Bernadette worked with my Stomach, inner and outer Thighs and the area where your leg connects to your crotch.
She worked on me for nearly 90 minutes.
She taught my Wife some gentler exercises to do on me than the ones that tore me up.
And gave me 2 new ones to do on myself.
I've been sore - but the good sore - like the sore you feel post exercise - not "injury" sore.
I've also been able to do my 1 mile walk every day - but - I'm really crawling or "waddling" as webslave says.
But it's good to keep moving - even if it is at about one mile an hour.
The Vegan, Gluten Free, Sugar Free diet is going well as is the Biofeedback Breathing (3x a day).
I'm sleeping better this week and most often only getting up to pee 1 or 2 times.
But, I had one night where I didn't have to get up at all!
Yesterday and today in Chicago it was 60 degrees out - so - Spring is coming - which means so is my Hot Tub - I cannot wait...it helps me with my pain soooooo much.
But the best news of all is that 2 nites ago I had close to painless sex.
For the first time in nearly 2 years I had normal sex and wasn't left telling myself "I'm never doing that again" afterwards.
I know this may sound kind of shallow of me - but even when the pain was searing and I was panic stricken because I felt like I couldn't pee.
The worst part of this has been the feeling that I've lost my "Manhood".
It has been so soul crushingly depressing for me.
This sign that with time and work I will get back to normal (sexually speaking) - is enormously highly encouraging to say the least.
So - that's my update...
Thanks...
Joseph

5th appointment.
I'm really doing the 3 steps forward 2 steps backwards thing here.
It's hard.
But I'm doing my homework religiously.
I have so many trigger points and myo issues.
We havent even gone internal yet and I've been bedbound 3 times so far.
It's realy so damn hard to keep this up when you're in pain - and doing things that cause you more pain.
But I do believe in it.
So - I'm keeping at it.
Yesterday was my Birthday and I just lied in bed - people invited me out - but - I was in so much pain from my PT apointment the day before.
47 years old.
I wonder if this will be gone next Birthday.
Thanks for listening...

I'm definitely keeping at it - the only alternative is living a life with chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome - and - that's pretty unbearable.
So - hell yes Carl - I'm keeping at it until I have it under control.
Although I'm really worried about my insurance running out.
I only have 2 more months of PT that is covered.
So - my PT is stretching things out - giving me more homework and spreading my appointments out more.
Doing more teaching that actual treatments.
I feel like i'm back in school - I've filled 2 notebooks with notes.
I guess that the only way to get better with this is to become an expert - this is not an illness for passive people.
then again - I wonder if passive people get this.
lol...
Thanks...

I couldn't agree with you more...We get our selves in this with our personalities, the irony is it's that same personality that can get you out with all the dedication and hard work... :-D

UPDATE:

Hi guys,
Well - I'm working hard with my PT.
Sometimes 2 times per week.
She has spent a lot of time training my Wife and Me - and also has a student who is working on me on her off days.
So - I'm doing stretching and PT at home 6-7 days a week - 2x a day sometimes - walking - following a meditation program as well as diet.
I must say progress is slow - sometimes a step backwards for every 2 forward.
But the progress is obvious.
It's all very exhausting.
Bernadette is treating me from head to toe - not just the pelvic floor...she believes that you have to resolve all the issues in the entire body or the trigger points will just return.
Interestingly - the problems I was having with my feet and knees and hips are resolving quicker than the pelvic issues.
Digestion has improved a great deal - as well as urination.
Sex has improved by about 50%.
I had been hoping that I'd be doing a lot better by now - as summer approaches... but, I can see now that this is going to take a long time to "cure".
To anyone who is reading this who is new or might not be getting treated by a PT.
Realize that this has very little to do with where you feel your symptoms.
This is about your diet, stress coping techniques and viewpoint of the world and life as a whole.
But more than anything - you need to be patient - because it's going to take awhile to get better if you're suffering significantly.
Good luck to all...
Thanks...
Joseph

Thanks a lot Gary,
Yes - I can confidently now say that I am getting better - no matter how slow - how many setbacks - the combo of mind body - PT is working.
I went out last nite to a club - (I don't drink or smoke) - it was a Burlesque revue and a lot of people I've not seen in months due to just not wanting to go out feeling the chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome symptoms - were there and all huggy and kissy - and it made me feel really good.
I didn't realize how missed I was.
Total mood booster.
I have gained some courage lately as well and fessed up about what chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome is and that I have it - (stopped lying and saying it was my back).
Nobody is judgemental - and very sympathetic.
The PT is getting a lot more intense - hard work - wipes me out - exhausting.
But - then after a day of recovery I have a lot more energy.
I'm going to start to go out more now that this weather is getting better.
it's a real emotional booster.
Time to climb out of my hole - lol.

Hello all, I will be in Chicago this month and , though I am feeling excellent, I am thinking that it would be an opportunity to be evaluated bt Rhonda Katarinos. I am usually in Asia where there is no expetise on this issue and taking a week off to go to Stanford is not a viable option in my reality. Some of the postings on her are quite negative while others state that she is excellent. Please offer me a conclusion on her efficacy of treatment.

Thank You,

Robert Pagen
