OK, I am thinking about going to see a physical therapist. Here are my symptoms at the current moment. I'm taking a sulfa drug right now. It kind of got rid of the penis pain and pelvic pressure.
But, my stomach around my belly button always feels weird. It hurts to cough and even talk sometimes. I do not know if I have some stomach problem or is this just pelvic floor muscle spasm's.
Even when I sit down the area around my belly button always feels tight and weird and not very comfortable. My anxiety has went down big time. But, still my stomach still feels weird.
Even when I go to the bathroom to do the #2...my stomach feels weird when going. Not really pain but an uncomfortable feeling.
I think I got this from getting the flu. My stomach muscles were very tight and I could not even bend over. I think maybe put too much stress on my pelvic muscles. I always felt like I pulled something in my stomach. It always felt like a spasm or a pulled muscle.
My story...I need help ASAP!! (jboek01 case)

You should also get checked for a hernia with those symptoms.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

I might start doing some external self massage of the abdominal muscles and set up an appointment with a physical therapist that treats pelvic pain conditions. Use the techniques you read about here to try and explore the muscles in your abdominal area.

So my symptoms are not normal for typical prostatitis. I'm talking about mainly...hurts to cough..talk...sitting down around the belly button..going #2..etc. Always a weird feeling in the stomach area.

I don't think Mark was necessarily saying that you don't have CPPS. After all, there are muscles which stretch from the belly all the way down to the pubic bone. It just occurred to him that your symptoms also match something worth having checked out. There's certainly no disadvantage to seeing your doctor over it.
It's important to remember that we're dealing with a very complex region of the body. Lots of intertwined, tightly packed muscle groups and nerves, with some organs squeezed in for good measure. Many things can go wrong and lead to CPPS-like symptoms, which is why the main site has a differential diagnosis page. Medically speaking, chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome is a diagnosis of exclusion. If there's something doctors can detect and treat, then it's important that they do.
I am not a physician. This is not medical advice. Consult your doctor!
Age: 26 Onset Age: 17 Symptoms: Shooting, nerve-like pains throughout the penis, which abruptly hit and leave. Testicular pain, perineum pain, burning/irritative urination, extended pain after ejaculation. Occasionally, some allodynia or ache in the coccyx/sacrum/thigh/buttocks/legs. Diagnosis: Pelvic floor dysfunction, degenerated lumbar disk, and mildly herniated lumbar disk. Helped By: Physical therapy, pain management doctor, hot baths, therapy pool, stretching regimen, breathing exercises, relaxation, distraction. Worsened By: Arousal/ejaculation (worst), constipation, panicking/obsessing, other triggers depend upon current symptoms. Tests/Prior Treatments: Too many antibiotics to count, multiple urine tests (all normal), testicular ultrasound (normal), bladder and renal ultrasound (normal), lumbar and pelvic MRI with and w/o contrast (revealed disk problems), Elavil 25mg (caused retention), Flomax 0.4mg.

Hi jboek,
I'm loaded with trigger points in my stomach - all around my belly, down my inner thighs and even up into my chest.
My PT works on them 2x a week - and they're going away - that tight *weird* feeling is something I'm familiar with.
As Jay said - this is a complex region of the body - if your Dr. has determined that you have no obvious overt illness in the stomach - it's likely myofascial or Triggerpoint related.
CPPS isn't the most accurate term for this problem - atleast in my case - because I have pain all over my body - it's just worse in my pelvis and kinda' the center or core of where it all starts and stops.
I don't know how typical I am though.
Joseph

Age:46 | Onset Age:42 (first occurence Age 17). | Symptoms: A belt of pain that wraps around my waist radiating down my groin & into testicles. Also: Radiating from hips down thighs, Urinary urgency even after voiding, lightning bolts of pain that shoot through my rectum, penis & perineum, muscle spasms in my bottocks, fear of sexual arousal or erection. | Helped By: Hot Water Therapy, RSA Breathing, Pacing more than sitting, Avoiding Negative People, Painting & Writing, Painkillers. | Worsened By: Wearing Pants, Anger, Panic, Depression, Stress, Vigorous Sex, Prolonged Sitting, Constipation, Abrupt Movements, Lifting/Carrying anything more than a Gallon of Milk, Forgetting to do the above things I'm helped by. *Ejaculation is a Mixed bag: It definitely relieves pressure & pain in my Abdomen (as well as a good emotional release) - But, causes bigtime burning in my penis & perineum for 10-45 minutes after.

Re: My story...I need help ASAP!! (jboek01 case)
I just started seeing a PT. I had my 2nd visit today. Last week she showed me a lying on the floor stretch to help with stomach. And she pressed on my stomach, butt area, and inside the annus area which I really did not care for. Today, she did the bio feedback with the machine and that thing going up my butt. It showed my muscles were tense. But, if something is up my butt I really do not want it there. Wouldn't that make them tense? Anyways she really has not showed me many yoga moves or stretching moves. She seems to be focused on the machine. Is the machine good at helping or what?
She basically also told me to practice 3 x a day to basically relax my pelvic muscles by basically trying to pass gas feeling I guess. This is how I got the bar graph going down where it is supposed to be. And she told me to start using a hot rice sock for the anus region. Is this a good start or not?
How effective is PT????

Re: My story...I need help ASAP!! (jboek01 case)
Oh yeah, I about forgot. I had my endoscopy done yesterday and everything was ok. But, the doctor looked at my belly button and he thinks I might have an umbilical hernia. My belly button is sticking out pretty far. I guess I really did not notice it until a few days before the procedure. If it is a hernia, it would explain my pain from coughing and the weird feeling in my stomach when I sit down. It would probably produce chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome type symptoms. I really actually hope it is a hernia, instead of this prostatitis or CPPS. I'd rather deal with a few weeks of pain and know it will get better then dealing with this unknown diagnosis of CPPS. I just feel helpless with this CPPS. Its like it never just goes away. And I have never heard or known anyone who has ever had this before.

Yes, I do have a hernia in the stomach around the belly button. The doctor said this is what is causing my chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome type symptoms. Thank God.

Yes, I thought you may have a hernia. But please note, this may have nothing to do with your chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome symptoms. Get the hernia fixed, give it a month or two, then report back. Good luck!

I don't know if prostatitis can cause someone to lose weight, but at least for me, the sadness that accompanies chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome causes me to lose weight. Some people eat more when they are down. I lose interest in eating. I've also lost 10 to 15 pounds in the past two months since I've had a relapse with the pain - that's not good news since I am thin to start with. Hang in there - time heals all wounds.
