It's one of the recommended flare breaking meds.
Can prostatitis make you lose weight?

Like webslave said...No but anxiety can...At my worst, I went from 160 pounds to 139 pounds from anxiety and stress over this condition. I would loose my appetite.. Some people eat more when stressed out some people like myself don't eat. Hope this helps. :-D

I would joke with my friends that a great form of weight loss is anxiety and panic disorder...when they would say what are you doing to loose weight? Now I try to stay between 155 and 158...

Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

Yes, I do have anxiety now....but from going 2 months from multiple tests in figuring what was going on with me...would drive anyone crazy. I just believe if this pressure or weird feeling (as I describe the feeling in my penis) goes away ...well so will the prostatitis and anxiety.

I got this from the flu. That is all. I felt it a couple days after the flu.

There is no "REAL" test for prostatitis anyways. Its not like a strep test or an HIV test. I think it has to do with the mental side above anything. Solve the mental with Xanax.....then my mind will hopefully forget about the pain was ever there. I think thats why some antibotics works for some people b/c it might relieve symptoms and then your mind forgets about them. And Bam...the problem is gone. Thinking about it too much and reading too much bad info makes your problem worse.

Has anyone done a hormone saliva test?

Post by jboek01 »

It might be your brain is not getting enough of some mineral, vitamin, or something like that which is producing the pelvic pains and other problems.

I believe anxiety has the most do with CPPS.
Control anxiety, bye bye to CPPS.

Yes...but, you have to also deal with the injury that comes with years of stress...The pelvic floor dysfunction does not adjust itself...You have to retrain and heal the pelvic floor through PT as well...

Also diet for many is a huge factor...this has to be considered as well...

Best current use of saliva is for DNA tests (e.g. SNP analysis). Saliva-based hormone tests are generally not very accurate and not that sensitive

I agree with the consensus so far. I had a nutritionist friend of mine do a cortisol test on me using saliva with "their preferred company" (free) and compared it to the blood work my endocrinologist performed. I was waiting for the sales pitch and there it came. When the saliva tests came back, my saliva said I was suffering from adrenal exhaustion (low cortisol) and my "buddy" tried to sell me these supplements (which were basically vitamins) with prices that were steroid induced for my own well being. I pulled out my blood work and told him I believed my blood work.

In any case, saliva will only contain excess cortisol produced by the body. Therefore, just because your saliva does not contain something does not mean your body is malfunctioning, although the "Wellness" professionals (I use that word loosely) would like you to believe that. They see $$$$$$.

It is so much easier communicating with doctors and the medical industry with the knowledge and understanding a point and click away. Granted we all have to exercise common sense and consider the source of information and always confirm the data.

What exercises can you do?

Post by jboek01 »

Is there a site or a you-tube site that shows you what exercises to try.

Do you mean what stretches to do? There are some shown in the Headache in the pelvis book. As far as regular exercising I've found that walking and swimming have been good and haven't caused any major flare-ups.

Both of my doctors do not believe in CPPS

Post by jboek01 »

My family doctor told me too not trust this site. Just what he said not me. And my urologist said yesterday that he just thinks I have prostatitis. I am actually feeling better from the sulpha drug I am on at the moment. It took a few weeks to begin to work. I've took now for a month. He said a month is a short time to be on a pill. He said some might take it for a year or longer. That does not sound like fun to myself. I have no more pelvic pain or pain through the penis area anymore.

So If I did try to get help through physical therapy, I do not know how I would get into it?

Does anyone stomach ever hurt?

Post by jboek01 »

I've been taking a sulfer drug for a month now. I feel the pelvic pain has went down big time. But my stomach seems to always be upset and like a tight feeling. I've also had high blood pressure here lately with some form of anxiety. I always wake up in the morning with my heart beating 90 miles an hour. I just do not know if the stomach being upset s from the sulfer pill or the anxiety? I've also been loosing a lot of weight and having diaherra about everyday. It seems I never have an appetite, but I still eat just about as much but I'm still loosing weight.

1) Fill out your signature

2) Your family doctor is ignorant about UCPPS (not uncommon), and so it your uro (less common).

Read my starter list and...

When I hear a doctor say do not trust this site with out any research...I say that because I know this doctor has not read through this site...I can only speculate that a site like this that talks about un-invasive techniques to heal with very little medical intervention through self help, other than a visit to get any prescriptions after we are cleared of any serious conditions...We effect their income stream...Connect the dots...the wealth of good information this site provides means no need to pay a doctor a bunch of money to get useless tests and endless visits...before the doctor finally throws you out after you are milked...
