Hey all.....
I spent the last few months trying all sorts of treatments and supplements. My one conclusion: One teaspoon of Phenibut and I feel normal in about 2 hours and it lasts for about 2 days. When I say normal, I mean I felt like I did before all this pelvic pain started.
After all the Neuro testing, blocks, etc, I tried Trigger Point (external) massages and Graston massages, along with ART chiropractic sessions, I have done my own internal Trigger Points and external with my Theracane, but none seems to help. One simple dose of Phenibut and I feel like my old self. Better than all the other supplements.
Does this make any sense to anybody? I have not been diagnosed with CPPS, but have talked to Dr. Wise and he suggested I was a candidate for his clinic. I will try to visit a PT in the Dallas area soon... before I head out for the Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol.
But after taking a single dose of Phenibut (2 hours later), I am 100% normal. In about 3 days, I return back to the typical nerve pain.
I work out 5 days a week, do my stretches everyday and nothing helps like PHENIBUT.
I know my body will build up a tolerance to Phenibut so I take it sparingly, like maybe once a week if that.....
What do u all think? I was going to head out to do the SP when I save some cash, but it is amazing how well this supplement works.
Thanks,
ATMA

Unfortunately, your post read like an advertisement for the one brand so I removed the brand name. If Phenibut works, others will doubtless try it and report back here.
They can buy it nice and cheaply here:

or here

Re: Why Phenibut works so well
Got this message from user atma, which I'll answer here:
If Phenibut works, enough men will confirm it to vindicate you. There are only a few reputable Phenibut brands, so many will end up taking the brand you suggest (contained in one of the two links above).
Quercetin is pushed because it is backed by scientific studies proving it helps us, as it helped me personally. When phenibut (beta-phenyl-gamma-aminobutyric acid) is shown to help by science, not by anecdote, we'll be pushing it here too with just as much enthusiasm.
Atma, you may be a completely above-board and honest poster, in fact, you probably are. However, over the years we've had several incidents of people joining the board to spam us with subtle and clever advertisements for their products.atma wrote:I have a quick question for you. If one brand worked better for me than the others, I feel the post would be informative. That is why I added that to the post. I have spent almost 2 decades weight training and filtering through the marketing tactics of companies. Most if not all supplements, are not monitored by any body (ie FDA), which is a good thing. However, their poor quality control, deceptive labels, etc cause many people to spend money on myths. My post was made to aide people in making a decision.
I am not sure how it is different from the sponsors of this site like any accredited quercetin product that appears in almost everyone's signature, etc.
I may need to re-read the guidelines for posting, but the fact that one brand helped much more than the other may indicate a better product or maybe just a physiological affect. I was hoping to provide that insight to other readers.
I appreciate all the work that you and others perform on this site, so in no way is this an attack on you or the policies. I admire you for the time and money you spend maintaining this site. I may still be lost if not for finding this site.

I encourage anxiety prone UCPPS people to consider L-Theanine
Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

Re: Why Phenibut works so well
I tried the phenibut powder you posted webslave and it does relax you but I think scoobs recommended a powder form which may be stronger. I believe he said you can't buy it in the states but can order it online. The stuff he takes may be stronger but do not know. The brand you posted has a lot of other supplements in it and I dont know about other brands. Would like to know if the powder form is any different.
Age 32, onset 32 Onset Aug 07- frequency was main problem in the beginning-really bad. Now 1 to 2x per night when frequency flairs up. Sore and tight lower abdominal muscles. Occasional burning after bowel movement and full feeling. What helps: Healthy diet(this is huge for me) Started drinking super greens supplament and almost going totally vegetarian to get body more alkaline, starting Prosta-Q, quercetin/zinc tablet in morning helped frequency problem I believe. Massaging abs and doing stretches helps calm down frequency when it is acting up. Wine or vodka after long day. Flexeral and melatonin at night. Swimming and light weights. .5 of Elavil every other day helps with frequency and healing process. Trying to stay positive and not stressing over this!

Re: Why Phenibut works so well
I tried phenibut with a brand (not sure if I can post it). I felt better within an hour and it lasted for 5 - 6 hours. The instructions say "Do not exceed 4 capsules per day or 5 days of consecutive use". However, people seem to have been taking it longer. I am thinking of alternating days with a muscle relaxant Tolperisone 150 mg and flupirtine maleate 100 mg painkiller in between days. Any inputs on if that will be addictive?

Re: Why Phenibut works so well
I believe that a number of sites that sell weight-training supplements (for example, BulkNutrition) sell phenibut. I can't vouch for the quality of any of it, though.
Age: 26 | Onset Age: 23 | Symptoms: Neuropathic-like pain and hyperalgesia (lateral/anterior thighs mostly, but distributed throughout body); Pain (penis shaft, right side, when erect for long or excess masturbation) | Previous Symptoms: Pain (testicles; penis underside, mostly near base and running up urethra, sharp/burning; perennial region, dull; ejaculatory; post-ejaculatory); Urinary (moderate incomplete voiding; moderate frequency and pain on bladder filling); Sensations (cold in head of penis) | Helped By: Stretching (especially hip rotators and flexors); Yoga (especially lunges, warrior 2, and pigeon) Trigger point release (abdominals; iliopsoas; gluteus muscles and piriformis; bulbospongiosus & ischiocavernosus; thigh adductors); Meditation (mindfulness); Walking & Aerobic Exercise | Worsened By: Stress, anxiety, too much alcohol, lack of sleep, sitting at length | Current prescriptions: nortriptyline (10 mg, 1x at night; for CNS sensitization and IBS) Previous prescriptions: hydroxyzine (10 mg, 1x at night; for urinary symptoms/mast cell stabilization; useful), clonazepam (0.25-0.5 mg, 1x at night; for anxiety/CNS sensitization; useful for short time)

Re: Why Phenibut works so well
I see it is available on Happy Hippo, but I am terrified to try it. Reminds me ephedra or similar "natural supplements." I've read horrendous reports of dependency and withdrawl. Also, it seems to have a tendency towards abuse, particularly among bodybuilders and the sex addicted. Unfortunately, I have a natural tendency toward a compulsive personality and worry about these risks. Any reports of serious, manageable success? Anyone?Thisismyusername wrote:Where does one buy Phenibut these days? I don't see anything labelled as such on amazon.com.
Age: 52 | Onset Age: 52 | New Symptoms: Urinary hesitancy, left frontal pain, left vericocele. Previous Symptoms: Clenching at voiding, sensation at the tip of the penis (this is the worst) specificaly a wet, cool feeling, sometimes with a sense of a b-b or piece of rice lodged in the end (there's nothing there!), urgency (occassionally), fullness in the perineum (even less frequently). | Helped By: Relaxing the pelvis, especially during voiding, self-massage, sitting to pee, heating pad in bed, heated car seats, short-distance running, light weight-lifting (as long as I'm very careful), staying organized and somehow active (if I can), plenty of sleep. Drugs: Atavan, very small amounts of alcohol. | Worsened By: Anxiety, anger, catastrophic thinking, despondency, spicey foods, too much alcohol, long sits, excessive sexual stimulation or too frequent ejaculation (more than every other day).
