Re: Introduction:Mon. Dec.15th JoVo Chicago
Well, I've been working on having sex completely relaxed - and wow - it's the hardest thing ever.
I've done it 3 times now and if I get too relaxed I lose my erection.
So it is a balance thing - definitely a new skill to learn.
Am I not *allowed* to tense any muscles at all (during the entire sexual experience)?
The most difficult part is while ejaculating - remaining completely relaxed is nearly impossible.
But I'm working on it.
I find the RSA breathing during this stage very helpful.
But I'm doing pretty good - and my Wife is being very patient.
She's mainly doing me manually and orally - she's afraid to get on top because she's afraid of hurting me...although she did get on top briefly all three times.
Also it takes a great deal longer to reach orgasm by remaining so relaxed and doing such slow gentle movements.
But - I'd like to note - that while having sex like this - I've cut my more severe, post sex pain and burning down 75-80%!
And - there is a huge pressure relief when all is said and done that seems to help all areas affected by the "Prostatitis" - CPPS.
The sex is not vigorous enough to bring my Wife to orgasm - so I'm taking care of her orally and with sex toys...and she's very happy with that - she says she enjoys the extra attention that is focused solely on her.
I would say that this has improved our intimacy during sex and made us much closer and that my sexlife itself is IMPROVING from employing these techniques.
My Wife also has told me that she never really liked being "hammered" like an object and that it never did anything for her orgasm.
I'm very open about this to friends and have spoken to several Women about all of this and they ALL said they prefer the intimate, sensual, slow sex I described more than "porn-sex".
None of them said they ever reached climax during vigorous sessions and said they just went along with it because they thought that was what their partner wanted/needed to get off.
Also: I mentioned to them that I am a member of a messageboard of guys with this same problem and some of them mentioned that the problems chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome is causing them is affecting their relationships - and they immediately said that any girl who wouldn't be completely sympathetic to their man about this problem is not someone whom is going to be good in a long term relationship.
They likened it to them not being in the mood when they have PMS - they said guys who weren't sympathetic about that were pretty much written off in their minds and they knew that it was just a short matter of time before the relationship would end.
I think as men we are all too focused on our pelvic area and worry about our performance too much.
This could be a big part of our problem to begin with.
We worry about our size, the length of our erections, and impressing girls with forceful machismo.
The girls I sopke to about this topic were all very beautiful, young and sexually charged people - models - and they want candles, soft music and ATTENTION (more than anything)...they said total attention to their vaginas was the #1 turn on.
As one girl put it "I hate it when a guy thinks he's a good lover by getting all sweaty and stabbing me in the pu**y all violently - it makes me feel like he's trying to hurt me, how could any guy think I'd enjoy that?".
So for what it's worth - that's the word from 9 very pretty young women...10 counting my Wife.
My advice is have sex as recommended - 2- times per week.
I was avoiding it - but, it has been a great relief to me - huge pressure relief - physically as well as mentally.
Hope this wasn't too explicit for anyone.
Thanks...
Joseph

Age:46 | Onset Age:42 (first occurence Age 17). | Symptoms: A belt of pain that wraps around my waist radiating down my groin & into testicles. Also: Radiating from hips down thighs, Urinary urgency even after voiding, lightning bolts of pain that shoot through my rectum, penis & perineum, muscle spasms in my bottocks, fear of sexual arousal or erection. | Helped By: Hot Water Therapy, RSA Breathing, Pacing more than sitting, Avoiding Negative People, Painting & Writing, Painkillers. | Worsened By: Wearing Pants, Anger, Panic, Depression, Stress, Vigorous Sex, Prolonged Sitting, Constipation, Abrupt Movements, Lifting/Carrying anything more than a Gallon of Milk, Forgetting to do the above things I'm helped by. *Ejaculation is a Mixed bag: It definitely relieves pressure & pain in my Abdomen (as well as a good emotional release) - But, causes bigtime burning in my penis & perineum for 10-45 minutes after.

No, a little tensing during the build up is ok.JoVoChicago wrote:Am I not *allowed* to tense any muscles at all (during the entire sexual experience)?

I suggest she drops the manual/oral part and sticks to intercourse. Normal intercourse requires far less tensing on the part of the male to achieve orgasm. She's mainly doing me manually and orally - she's afraid to get on top because she's afraid of hurting me...although she did get on top briefly all three times.
Yup, told you so.But - I'd like to note - that while having sex like this - I've cut my more severe, post sex pain and burning down 75-80%!

All Night Flare Up...again...
Anyone who has been following my thread can tell I'm kinda' Bi-Polar with this thing.
I go from moments of hope to moments of panic & desperate depression pretty quickly.
Please tell me guys - especially experienced guys.
Please forward this to anyone experienced with this.
Please.
Is there any hope of living a productive, happy & meaningful life once you have this?
Is there anyone here who has had this as bad as me or worse and is now able to function in a comfortable normal human way?
Please I need to know this.
Thank you...
Joseph

Take a dose of Valium or another benzodiazepine. You are having a panic attack. Happens a lot to people with pelvic myoneuropathy, aka CPPS.

Re: Introduction:Mon. Dec.15th JoVo Chicago
I am taking Klonopin right now.
Thanks for the calming advice.
I just need to know from anyone willing to share.
What are your lives like?
Will I ever be able to sing or play instruments on a stage again (that's my joy)- or mingle at 100 plus Art Gallery Receptions & Events?
Are those parts of my life just over now?
I love people.
Being around people.
Talking with all of my friends.
But in this condition - I can barely fake a smile.
I don't know what to expect.
thanks...

Not at all...It takes time and a much needed break from everything until you have your anxiety and panic disorder under control...Are those parts of my life just over now?
Believe me...I have been to hell and back and I do all the things I loved prior to onset...I'm at the 3 year mark next month and life is great!!! I worked my ass off to get here though...No pun intended...

I encourage anxiety prone UCPPS people to consider L-Theanine
Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

It's encouraging to know you can sit at a drummers throne and play.
You have no idea.
What do you mean by Mast Cell Protection (in your signature)?
Could you please explain or direct me to some links?
Thank you...

Elavil and mast cells:
http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v2 ... 229a0.htmlWe now report that the tricyclic antidepressant drug amitriptyline (Elavil) inhibits histamine release from stimulated mast cells ...

Re: Introduction:Mon. Dec.15th JoVo Chicago
hmmmm - I was on Norpramin like 19 years ago - I didn't have any big side effects - the Dr. took me off so I could get on Prozac - which was a horror film for me - after that I was frightened of all Antidepressants.
I know Elavil & Norpramin are in the same family.
Perhaps I'll try it.
I'm still a bit scared of Antidepressants.
Thanks...

Hi,
The effects of Elavil are unlikely to be similar to Prozac for you. When used to treat CPPS, only very small doses are required, much smaller than what would be used to treat depression. Of course, you'll want to discuss these concerns with your doctor.
Best,
Jay

Re: Introduction:Mon. Dec.15th JoVo Chicago
Speaking of which I think I need to find a Dr. who knows about CPPS.
I don't think there are too many - except for Physical Therapists.
My Dr. is a decent guy in the sense that he'll write me prescriptions for certain thing I wanna' try.
I have to do all the research though.
I had to find the right combo of insulin & medication for my Diabetes - he just wanted to keep raising my insulin - but then I discovered Actos which helps the insulin work better - I asked for it and am now under control without having to take a ton of insulin.
I was on a ton of Vicodin & IbuPro - but didn't like the IbuPro and have weaned down on the Vike considerably and am starting to take Tramadol - which I notice a lot of the people on the board are on.
So - in short - if I want Elavil - I'll just ask him for a prescription.
I've been through 4 Uros (who were killing me with Antibiotics) and endless ball smashing ultrasounds etc.
And then I have this Dr. - who is sympathetic - but really has no idea as to what chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome is.
Do you guys have actual MD's who know what is going on with this problem?
Or all we all mostly on our own when it comes to Standard Alopathic medicine?
Thanks...
Joseph

If you let this thing wreck your life, then yes it will do so. If you decide to carry on with your life and ignore it, then you can lead a normal enough life. Sure we have our ups and downs, my first year of having it was horrible, mainly the not knowing, the fear it will get worse, I guess the catastrophic thinking. But I lead a normal life during the first year, I went to theme parks, went to New York, went on holiday to Ibiza clubbing, I have sex, I go out with my mates, I would say there isn't much I havent been able to do because of this.
Sure some days you may have pain and not want to go out, or you have frequency. If i have pain, then I take painkillers, if I have frequency, i do my best to ignore it, and I find that when I am out, doing things I enjoy, the pain and or the frequency will actually disappear, because my mind is taken off it.
So Joseph, while many of us are scared, we have to live our lives as normal and get on with it. As with any illness, it will get the better of you - but only if you let it......

Good post Gary...
If any one here can tell you the ups and downs of the mind getting to you...Gary can attest to it. He has come full circle with this and really has come a long way. Way to go my friend...
Jo Vo...No doctor can help you...You have all the power and tools to help yourself with this condition. Doctors at this point, once all serious conditions are ruled out...are only good for meds as needed...
Best, Carl...

Jo Vo...No doctor can help you...You have all the power and tools to help yourself with this condition. Doctors at this point, once all serious conditions are ruled out...are only good for meds as needed...
