Coffee reaction

Post by rysocal »

I tried drinking coffee a couple days ago and I took four prelief before. Well I really didn’t notice any relief, it flared me up as usual. Coffee seems like my only food trigger that flares me to a noticeable level. After drinking it, feels likes my levators turn to wet mushy muscles and the sphincter gets really tight. Does anyone else get this type of flare from coffee? Do the gluten sensitive guys have a reaction like this with wheat? Does anyone get this type of reaction from food?

I am a student, studying a lot, battling with this condition and trying to stay alert. Can anyone recommend any chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome friendly energy foods/supplements/ideas? I eat healthy (fruits, vegetables, poultry ) and am some what physically active every day. Tried cutting gluten out for a week, no change. Think I have a mild case of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. My only symptom now is tightness in the pubococcygeus/sphincter and the golf ball sensation off and on.
Age:30 | Onset Age:27 Symptoms: Golfball sensation, cramping in the rectum, inflamed/tight levator ani, occasional frequent urination, mild constipation, occasional burning testicular pain, IBS. Helped By: Exercise, Stretching (Yoga) specifically a deep lunge or pidgeon, running, beer, alcohol, relaxing, deep breathing Worsened By: Sitting for long periods (even w/ doughnut cushion), Stress, tight pants, caffeine, coffee in particular Tests: Pelvic MRI, Colonoscopy, Anal Monometry, STD, Pudendal Nerve Block. Botox into obturator internis, levator ani, and piriformis. Meds Xanax, Phenibut (The phenibut works awesome, better than the Xanax in my opinion)

Drop the coffee and use caffeine tablets. You may find that you react less to them than to coffee.

Interesting.... is it that caffeine is not the trigger but the coffee bean itself?

Yes, could be. Over a thousand chemicals have been reported in roasted coffee: more than half of those tested are rodent carcinogens. I can't tolerate it myself.

No neither can I. Used to drink a lot of the stuff but found it started giving me upset stomach's. Coming off coffee was hard work, didn't realise how addictive it is. I havent drunk it for at least 3 years now, but the main reason always being I thought the caffeine was the cause of all the problems. That would explain why even trying de-caff I experienced the same problems.

I'm a coffee junkie. Never associated it with my pain issues. Hashimoto's/high TSH for 15 years, it's the best way I've found to get out of my morning malaise. Levothroid has never fully corrected it.

I have this EXACT symptom, the wet mushy feeling in the levators and tight sphincter. I thought I was the only person that had this.
I don't think I can attribute it directly to coffee but there might be something I eat that causes it. I can find no direct cause.
That being said, I have been undergoing internal trigger point therapy with remarkable results. Combined with regular stretching my symptoms have almost disappeared. No urinary problems. I still get the minor golfball feeling and mushy feeling you described but I am definitely noticing a dissipation of symptoms.
This group has been remarkable for me and I can't thank the people enough.

Just one more thing I should add. My chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome began about 2-3 months after I started to drink coffee on a regular basis. I know that coffee makes you sweat, but I was noticing (kind of gross) A LOT of sweat in my butt crack and around my anal area after drinking it. But I continued to drink it and I think it was a major contributor to the development of my CPPS.

Coffee increases my symptoms but a cup of tea often helps ,strange but true and both contain caffeine
Age:33 | Onset Age:19 | Symptoms:burning urethra, deep sore stinging around the perineum, dribbling | Helped By:when flare starts deep relaxing over a toilet to let out dribbling urine, hot bath, rubbing a heat cream on the perineum, Tens with a pad on the perineum, running, medication (solpadol) for pain. Current treatment: PT. | Worsened By:sitting, stressing over it, ejaculation, sometimes alcohol but I risk it. Been feeling a lot better last 6 months about 85% with a few flares lasting about 5 days. No longer having PT. Stretching every other night and I believe time is also a big factor for me

Stop drinking coffee. There isn't anything in there that's any good and you get used to living without it. Instead, try drinking nettle tea. I swear by this stuff. It's not a cure all, but it definitely helps me.

Corn silk tea is also pretty good, but I prefer the nettle.

I had to quit coffee and tea (even decaf & green tea) which was tough. I drink Rooibos and Chamomile tea now which is fine. Rooibos is even better than Green tea for the health effects. I don't mind the loss of caffeine, just the taste of a hot cup of coffee on a cold day. Oh well. I also had to cut out soft drinks although I never drank them much so it wasn't a big loss. I did notice that after a day or so of drinking caffeine or low-caffeine bevs my symptoms would increase sometimes dramatically. Finally, I had to drop out acid bevs like OJ, Cranberry juice, etc. I stick with Apple Juice, water, tea, etc. Mostly water.

You can also head over to the IC group on the net and read through the IC diet for more tips on things you can experiment with avoiding. We're all different so you have to just try exclusions to see what works, what doesn't.
