Havent been doing much internal work
I have only done one internal session with pT in the last 1.5 months and my symptoms lately have been getting worse in the frequency department. My PT says I feel pretty good in there and thinks I should concentrate more on abs and relaxation. She did find a real tight spot up near prostate and was really sore when she worked this area last week. There is no way for me to rich this spot though. So should I get back on internal work about 2x week, Like I said my frequency issue the real problem at the moment..... thought I had turned a corner!
Age 32, onset 32 Onset Aug 07- frequency was main problem in the beginning-really bad. Now 1 to 2x per night when frequency flairs up. Sore and tight lower abdominal muscles. Occasional burning after bowel movement and full feeling. What helps: Healthy diet(this is huge for me) Started drinking super greens supplament and almost going totally vegetarian to get body more alkaline, starting Prosta-Q, quercetin/zinc tablet in morning helped frequency problem I believe. Massaging abs and doing stretches helps calm down frequency when it is acting up. Wine or vodka after long day. Flexeral and melatonin at night. Swimming and light weights. .5 of Elavil every other day helps with frequency and healing process. Trying to stay positive and not stressing over this!
Re: My progress (Calguy's Case)
My frequency is my only symptom at the moment. Havent had any pain for ages now, and if I could get rid of this darn frequency then I would be sorted. Been massaging the abs every night in bed with an electric massager. I've found fish oil tablets seem to help a bit, it decreases the feeling for some reason, I have been taking Omega 3 tablets in the morning. I dont get frequency in the nights however when sleeping. getting to sleep however is frustrating as you have to try and put the feeling out of your head, but once I am asleep, I stay asleep. If it persists I will book to see my PT again for some advice.
Age: 33 | Onset Age: 32 Initial Symptoms: Frequent urination Current Symptoms: The odd feeling of frequency but not much else Helped By: Not thinking about it, hot bath, red wine, light exercise, Bowen technique seems to help, getting on with my life Worsened By: catastrophic thinking, worrying things will get worse, feeling depressed, reading websites too often! Work! Sitting in work all day isn't good!! Current Progress : Since 1st Sept 08, no pain!!! :)
Morning wood
Well it has been over a year since I have had morning wood. Last couple days have had it like the good old days. Since coming down with this I do wake up having to go but I guess I have been using different muscles or tensing ab muscles? I usually wake up and feel pretty tight in lower abs and have a really strong feeling of needing to go. Could I be tensing while I sleep because I am so concerned with having to get up at night and go. Like I said before I could sleep all night then when I woke up I would be shooting for the sky. Things have definately changed but maybe I am getting better down there somewhat. Well just had to laugh about that, its funny what I get excited about these days!

Re: My progress (Calguy's Case)
Red meat will only cause a flare if you are sensitive to red meat — intolerant to meat protein — and this will show as diarrhoea or constipation, leading to straining or over-activity of the deep pelvic muscles during defecation.

Ya I did have both of those symptoms. I will test it again when I am feeling good and see what happens.

Gaining weight, exercise
Hey guys I have gained like 20 pounds in the last 6 months and I am feeling really down and depressed because I am afraid to exercise and make things worse. If I just go along like old man and just rest all the time things seem under control but it sucks! I really need to get back in gear. I think exercise may actually help my mood and maybe a little depression I have been having. Well I am just about to say screw and go for a jog!

Re: Gaining weight, exercise
Swimming has worked very well for me in the past - very low impact.calguy wrote:Hey guys I have gained like 20 pounds in the last 6 months and I am feeling really down and depressed because I am afraid to exercise and make things worse. Try a trampoline. Jumping is a good all around exercise and even circulates your lymph node system. They are cheap too. I bought mine on Amazon for about $100.00.

Elavil Dosage?
Okay going to try Elavil and see if it can hep my recovery. I have been doing good but frequency a little more than I would like. Actually having to go feeling. Well doc said I have to take 25 to 50mg for it to helpwith bladder control. Told him I only wanted to start with ten but he said a guy my size needs more or will not have any real effect. I am pretty average sized guy so dont know what he is talking about. So should I just stick with 10mg per day? I know that was recommended a from a few people but just want to double check, as I do not want to take it for nothing. thanks! Like I said he just insisted 10mg would do nothing.

It won't hurt to start low and work your way up.

Re: My progress (Calguy's Case)
Hi,
I started at 25mg and it didn't hurt me, but Elavil was one of those drugs that disagreed with me no matter the dose.
It seems to be a trend among many urologists to be resistant about building up the dosage. My uro (who I fired for being an ass) absolutely insisted upon starting at 25mg, no buildup, and that was that. If chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome has revealed anything to me about medicine, it's that's asking questions and having an opinion can really bring out the god complex.

IBS and Gas
I think I have a mild case of IBS because my BM's are not regular, either I dont go all day or a few times. I thought it might be the muscles spams in there but do have some other digestive problems like acid reflux so whole digestive thing gets out of whack if I eat bad and not taking care of myself. Lately been having a lot of gas and can't figure out if I am eating something to cause this but definately not normal. Does IBS cause gas and any suggestions?
