i recently had nerve blocks near the pudendal nerve. The pain in my perineum and pins and needle pain in my legs was instantly and completely relieved for the first time in 2 years. However, all the pain came back with 24 hours. I am not sure what this means. MR neurography (experimental) showed irritation of the pudendal nerves. All my pain is extremely worse when sitting and decreases 50-75% when I stand. Can lidocaine in the pelvic floor simply erase the pain? I am not going to submit to pudendal nerve surgery unless there is a scientific epiphany.
I have not had success with stretching and pelvic floor therapy. Stretching, heavy activity and PT make symptoms much worse.

Re: Blocks
Hi Tiger, thanks for posting your experience. May I ask who gave you the injections, what was injected other than lidocaine(if anything), and the location of the injections. This gives you some good information as to where the irritation is, most likely. Have you tried protecting your perineum with a cutout cushion for sitting? Ask your doctor about injecting cortisone, or another steroid into the same location.

Re: Blocks
The injections were done in the muscles surrounding the pudendal nerve. I am awaiting the report - I should remember but I do not. They were injected with marcane and celestone steroid. Simply padding has not helped significantly. Significant nerve irritation returns with any activity such as stretching or competitive exercise such as tennis. When I the muscles are stretched - the nerves are irritated. I will do the electronic stimulator before I even consider any surgical correction.

Tiger,
This is snoopy. I have responded via pm to your pm's but haven't received a response. Are you getting my pm's? I had the blocks and neurography from Filler, send me a message if you want to compare notes? Surgery is probably not a good idea.
