Perineal / PC Muscle Spasm Pulling...Pain

Post by carld »

Last week after surfing in some cold water and getting a great workout...a few days after while walking into work, I had some spasm pain in my rectum/perineal area and what also felt like my PC muscle. (That's the muscle that's used to ejaculate and clench. )

Here is the interesting part...On my desk I have a rock paper weight my 5 year old gave me for father's day that says (Dad you rock) I sat on it and put it directly over my anus and perineum area and shortly after that...the pain subsided because I was able to release those tight muscles. Again further proof that this is muscle dysfunction effected by stress, elements like cold water and using the pelvic muscles under those conditions can cause tightening problems...Having a blast catching some very fun waves was worth it though...

It almost felt as if it was a bout of fugax proctalgia ...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proctalgia_fugax. But not as intense...So I really think it was related to using my pelvic muscles surfing...Bottom line is I think my PC muscle or all the pelvic floor muscles are still injured. It' just that way and I have to really stretch them out and relax the floor.

Point is the rock worked....

Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

I had a really bad flare after surfing before. I think it was from a combination of the tight wetsuit and the cold water(during the winter). But I have been surfing this summer with trunks in warmer water and i dont get a flare. Guess i need to move some where tropical to surf. Were you wearing a wetsuit?

Ya...I was surfing at county line in Ventura and the water is always cold there...Full suits are not comfortable...very tight around the crotch...

Bottom line is...I won't give anything up that makes me happy...You can still surf and charge it hard...I tell my self to relax and believe it or not even out there, I practice moment to moment relaxation....

Except this weekend I let my board go instead of duck diving on a set and my board of course hit my left nut... :crying: That's what I get for being a wimp and letting my board go...Not a cool thing to do when there is a lot of other surfers out there with you scratching to get over the set before it crashes on you

Will never forget taking a dip in cold sea in Cyprus while on honeymoon a few years back. Within 5 mins of getting out I flared into agony for over 1 hour and some mild pain remained for whole 2 weeks. This happened while I was in a remission of chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome :62_58_40:

Will never go in sea again
Age:33 | Onset Age:19 | Symptoms:burning urethra, deep sore stinging around the perineum, dribbling | Helped By:when flare starts deep relaxing over a toilet to let out dribbling urine, hot bath, rubbing a heat cream on the perineum, Tens with a pad on the perineum, running, medication (solpadol) for pain. Current treatment: PT. | Worsened By:sitting, stressing over it, ejaculation, sometimes alcohol but I risk it. Been feeling a lot better last 6 months about 85% with a few flares lasting about 5 days. No longer having PT. Stretching every other night and I believe time is also a big factor for me
