Desert Harvest supplement for IC/PBS/CP/CPPS

Post by carld »

This site I find compelling because my good friend Patrick in the last week has come down with prostatitis after vigorous sex and lots of mounting biking, running his own business and sitting for long periods at a time ...That's 3 men including my self, my nephew that have CP/CPPS and Patrick's girlfriend has IC who years ago went on this product and has done very well...So I think the NIH has the % too low for people with IC/PBS/CP/CPPS...It's more prevalent then I thought....Any way...

He called me yesterday to tell me about his prostatitis and his story about the onset and the damn Cipro the doctor put him on and I directed him to this site...His girlfriend told him he has the male version of what she has and 3 days ago, he started taking this supplement (after a hellish week taking yep!!! Cipro for a week or so and stopped because he felt worse) in high doses and said he is starting to feel much better...The frequent urination/burning discomfort is easing by the hour he says...This is a close friend of mine so I looked up this site and thought it was interesting. Even though I'm doing very well...I thought I might get a bottle that has quercetin in it with the aloe.

What I found interesting is I tried aloe juice once and it burned the hell out of my stomach...I learned that the juices are often loaded with ascorbic acid or something like that...A killer for me...But this product is pure aloe...Read up and judge for yourself...I thought it might be helpful to give it a try. I will keep you posted...No magic bullet. Like Quercetin suppliers, the company seems well established and in line with our syndrome and it's only part of a complete life style change and solid protocol...

Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

All I can say is WARNING!! They present an unpublished study as proof of their product's efficacy. Unpublished studies are unpublished for a reason. In addition, there are NO studies on Medline linking aloe vera to prostatitis, CP/CPPS, IC/PBS etc.

Probably no harm in taking it, and I'd be interested in any anecdotal followups.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

My only thought with aloe...is if it's used to treat skin burns when the plant is cut and things of that nature....If it can get to the prostatic urethra and prostate....it should act in the same way to treat inflammation and those men that have burning pain, can maybe be helped by this...Just a thought.

I will keep you all posted on my friends condition and I will get a bottle as well for flare ups and see how it goes. You never know...Since my symptoms these days are very minimal...Perhaps I will take it as a supplement in low dose. :-D

Personally I don't think it would hurt, its supposed to have a lot of health benefits. I took it for my acid reflux and it helped. I think if you have IC and take it you will know if it helps or not. MY PT said some patients with IC she knows take it.
Age 32, onset 32 Onset Aug 07- frequency was main problem in the beginning-really bad. Now 1 to 2x per night when frequency flairs up. Sore and tight lower abdominal muscles. Occasional burning after bowel movement and full feeling. What helps: Healthy diet(this is huge for me) Started drinking super greens supplament and almost going totally vegetarian to get body more alkaline, starting Prosta-Q, quercetin/zinc tablet in morning helped frequency problem I believe. Massaging abs and doing stretches helps calm down frequency when it is acting up. Wine or vodka after long day. Flexeral and melatonin at night. Swimming and light weights. .5 of Elavil every other day helps with frequency and healing process. Trying to stay positive and not stressing over this!
