Improvement with Botox in bladder

I have some good news to report, finally. About a month ago I got a Botox injection. The urologist injected around 100 units of Botox (low dose) into the trigone and external urinary sphincter. The injection was done under general anesthesia with a hydrodistension of the bladder. The doctor also took a bladder biopsy (I haven't checked about the results).

About a week later I started to notice some gradual improvement. I feel about 25% better now. My main symptom has always been very high urinary frequency (was around 30 times a day, now lower), so targeting the trigone was a good move. The trigone is where many of the sensory nerves responsible for bladder pain are thought to reside. Also, injecting the trigone instead of the detrusor meant that I didn't have any significant or long-lasting urinary hesitancy, as is known to happen for Botox injections.

The timing of this relief might just be a coincidence and might have nothing to do with the Botox (maybe it was the hydrodistension, or maybe just a summertime improvement), but for the time being I am experiencing just enough relief to be able to live my life more normally. My plan is to see my urologist again to get a higher dose of Botox injected in the same locations, to see if that gives more relief.

That's very pleasing to hear. So maybe Botox it still a worthwhile avenue to explore, especially for guys with frequency. Let's see how this progresses.
