A tip for all you who spasm after peeing

Post by graeme »

Hello all I've not posted a lot of late as I'm doing well, a bad day now I would of called a good day 6 months ago

Something I found of late which seems to work for me.

Sometimes after taking a pee I would get like a clench or spasm by the prostate which would lead to an increase of symptoms or a full on flare especially if my piss is concentrated (first pee of the morning was often a culprit).

I've found that if I just slightly insert a lubed finger up the rear when peeing and leave it there about 30 seconds after this stops this from happening.

Also when pain is there just inserting a finger decreases the pain instantly until the finger is removed

I'm doing well for now stretching, self internal work and been seeing a PT, also not thinking about it which is easy to do to when not in to much pain not so easy before.

I've also been taking glucosamine (not sure if this has helped or not)
Age:33 | Onset Age:19 | Symptoms:burning urethra, deep sore stinging around the perineum, dribbling | Helped By:when flare starts deep relaxing over a toilet to let out dribbling urine, hot bath, rubbing a heat cream on the perineum, Tens with a pad on the perineum, running, medication (solpadol) for pain. Current treatment: PT. | Worsened By:sitting, stressing over it, ejaculation, sometimes alcohol but I risk it. Been feeling a lot better last 6 months about 85% with a few flares lasting about 5 days. No longer having PT. Stretching every other night and I believe time is also a big factor for me

That may work, but it's not practical....

That just means you should practice your internal massage probably in that area. I have spasm prior to pissing, I just listened to the body and pinpointed which muscle and I hit that with light internal work now....

Good Luck

You are right its not practical, but just a tip for short term measure until the trigger points have been turned off by doing PT

That's interesting. By doing this, you are probably distracting the pelvic nerves from the activity around the genitourinary tract. There could be something worthwhile looking into here. Nicely spotted.

You know to me, this falls right in line with when I have at time large BM's. Meaning amount I pass, that the nerves and muscles seem to get revved up and I will also pass urine during this time and my urethra will burn or the sensation of having to pee is still there during this time. So I think the pelvic nerves and muscles are on over drive here. I also feel the need to keep doing contraction like kegels during this time from my PC muscle. Every time this happens...It quiets down an hour or so latter.

Good observation...I can just see the reaction I would get in a urinal and having to do a reach around while I piss

Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

Sit on the loo and just enter a quarter of your middle finger

Or buy a butt plug :biggrin(1):

I can't remember who mentioned it, but I have been lightly pinching myself on the leg or pulling my hair so as not to clench. It usually helps. I think part of the problem is that those of us who are doing that are anxious about doing that. It's like telling someone, "Don't think of a pink elephant." and then that's all they do. Another thing I've been doing is making a V with my index and middle finger of my right hand and sliding them so that there is a finger on each side of my penis/scrotum and then squeeze gently as I go. Not enough to cause it to stop, but enough to keep it relaxed. I find that helpful too.
Age: 46 | Onset Age: 45 | Symptoms: "gotta go to the bathroom feeling almost constantly, even after I go." Raw/irritated feeling mainly when sitting down. | Helped By: Following IC diet, Alo Vera caps, Cod Liver Oil, Flax seed oil, very warm baths, stretching, relaxation tapes, Yoga and meditation, | Worsened By: citrus fruits, chilie, old cheeses, coffee, alcohol, stress, anxiety, obsessing on the problem.

Some interesting ideas in this thread that should be developed upon by some clever therapist. :agree:

Keep experimenting, guys.

Carl, I have that same thing after a big BM. The involuntary clenching, very, very, strange stuff. And your right, a little while later it goes away completely. I also notice that urine comes out and some almost feels "stuck" in the urethra. Very odd indeed.
Good to go!
