Getting a sonogram, possible bilateral varicocele

Male pelvic pain, prostatitis, IC

Just wanted to give a report on the uro visit. I definitely have a varicocele on the left side. It's very evident on the blood flow slide of the ultrasound. However, both myself and the uro are skeptica as to whether it in itself is causing my pain. It surely would not explain the other CP symptoms, like sitting pain and pelvic pain. And then he said something to piss me off...big surprise. This "supposed expert" in IC in men told me he's seen ONE patient in 21 years of doctoring who he felt definitely had IC. How the hell does that make him an expert? Word to the wise folks, always consider the source! I got his name off another IC board...the one that's linked to this site infact. Whether they got his name I don't know. The course of treatment recommended to me was what I'm already doing...Elmiron and Amitrip, plus he wanted me to take 7 days of Zythromyacin. Like THAT"s going to do anything for me except give me a stomach ache. So, I'm a little bitter today. Another day, another doctor, another waste of time. I'll start another thread on varicoceles if I have to, but I am curious if anyone on here has had the operation to fix theirs, what was involved, and did it help or hurt. I asked my uro the same question and he first said there was no danger of making things worse, but then he corrected himself and said that it might. When asked what circumstances, he got a little defensive. His final statement of the session was, "Hey, at least we know you have a pathology present." Gee, that's comforting.
