Cortisol levels before / after relaxation training

Post by Viking »

Does anyone know of a study on cortisol levels before and after relaxation training? Since the recent work by Rod Anderson and Dimitrakov point to cortisol deficiancy, it would be interesting to see measurements on cortisol levels in a group say after an 8 week relaxation protocol. I would think that a balanced cortisol level could be achieved through daily relaxation. Not to mention all the other health benefits.

Cheers :-D

I have not looked into that, but you could try to find something like that at Pubmed.

Relaxation is a difficult issue. It's become clear to me, over the years, reading the posts here every day, that some men find it almost impossible to overcome anxiety, even after taking anxiety medications and doing relaxation training. It's almost as if these men need a shot of Botox in the brain, if you get my meaning. Anxiety can be a very intractable facet of a person's makeup.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

I encourage anxiety prone UCPPS people to consider L-Theanine
Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

Very true webslave, there have been times when doing paradoxical relaxation or some other form of meditation where I've felt extremely relaxed and focused as well, yet after going back into reality the benefits didn't stay with me for too long. And antidepressants have helped me with panic and anxiety, but have never brought them down to what I would call 'normal' levels.

You should also pay attention to moment to moment relaxation throughout the day. A good idea is to become conscious of your breathing, thus taking your mind away from anxious thoughts. I have found this to be crucial as the days go on. For me, it is not enough with just half an hour of relaxation every evening.

Actually, one would think Botox in the forehead could have benefit CPPS....Studies on its effectiveness in depression when antidepressants fail.

Surgery for removal of trigger points in migraine patients who have used Botox in those areas for years.

One of the main focuses of the Dr. Wise tapes is tension in the forehead.
