shaky hands? anxiety related?

Post by calguy »

Once in a while when I trying to do something precise with my hands like light a candle the other day I was shaking. In the lab a work I needed to use eye droper for test on some water and got shaky then too. My girlfriend said shes noticed me do this once in awhile. Is this anxiety related or related to this whole condition.
Age 32, onset 32 Onset Aug 07- frequency was main problem in the beginning-really bad. Now 1 to 2x per night when frequency flairs up. Sore and tight lower abdominal muscles. Occasional burning after bowel movement and full feeling. What helps: Healthy diet(this is huge for me) Started drinking super greens supplament and almost going totally vegetarian to get body more alkaline, starting Prosta-Q, quercetin/zinc tablet in morning helped frequency problem I believe. Massaging abs and doing stretches helps calm down frequency when it is acting up. Wine or vodka after long day. Flexeral and melatonin at night. Swimming and light weights. .5 of Elavil every other day helps with frequency and healing process. Trying to stay positive and not stressing over this!

I get that too every now and then, and it just goes away. Seems to have no significance. Can follow heavy use of the arms and hands, like lifting. May also be related to computer use. Can be anxiety or medication related.
wikipedia on tremor wrote:Physiologic tremor occurs in every normal individual and has no clinical significance. It is rarely visible to the eye and may be heightened by strong emotion (such as anxiety or fear), physical exhaustion, hypoglycemia, hyperthyroidism, heavy metal poisoning, stimulants, alcohol withdrawal or fever. It can be seen in all voluntary muscle groups and can be detected by extending the arms and placing a piece of paper on top of the hands. Enhanced physiologic tremor is a strengthening of physiologic tremor to more visible levels. It is generally not caused by a neurological disease but by reaction to certain drugs, alcohol withdrawal, or medical conditions including an overactive thyroid and hypoglycemia. It is usually reversible once the cause is corrected.
There are also a lot of scary reasons for tremor, but I'd be surprised if they applied to you:

Well, I liked Ativan (lorazepam), so not really a relaxer per se, but damn good for pelvic muscles. I can no longer get it and I use Phenibut with great success and its OTC. Next best thing if can't get Ativan.....

Have a great time

Since the chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome condition itself may be a symptom of anxiety or an anxiety disorder that's probably a good shot. As noted 40 or more hours sitting a week in front of a computer won't help. If you have a PT tell them and have them work the upper back/shoulders/traps. Also trigger points related to shoulders and arms. A lot of anxiety is held in a tensed up neck girdle, resulting in tense triceps, shoulders and the shakes.

Sore groin/ yoga

Post by calguy »

I think my the yoga stretches my PT has me doing may be causing my muscles in groin in the inside and front of legs to be sore and slight burning. When I press area feels like bruise. Getting some refferred pain up toward abs and side of pubic area. Never done stretches like those yoga moves before so I figure I am using muscles that havent be used before. Yoga moves are

warrior 1
downward dog, upward dog
sumo squats
Stretches

I read from past posts that this sore feeling is a good thing and I should keep working these muscles. CPPSdad found a lot of success with these stretches. What do you think should I push through the pain or give them time to rest.

I've had this for a while, way before chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome was ever a concern for me. Even when I'm very relaxed I have a bit of it. I have a very difficult time holding a shot glass or a chip just dipped in salsa without it going everywhere if I'm around people...

Never, ever push through pain when stretching. This is a sure sign you've overdone it. Stretching is not at all like Conditioning where "no pain no gain" rules. After stretching (and during it) you shouldn't have pain. If you do, stop stretching for a couple of days. Let the muscles relax and heal. Then try again, but slowly and gently. The rule of thumb is to stretch to the point where you could stretch a bit more if you wanted to but don't. That is, don't stretch to the maximum point and hold it. If you do, you're headed for big trouble.

In general, I'm not a big fan of Yoga for CPPS. It's a bit too aggressive IMO. I like active isolated stretching (aka the mattes method) as a safer, easier alternative for CPPS. With Yoga, you have to be really, really careful not to overdo it. Some of the poses are not real good for the lower back if done improperly. If you insist on Yoga, find a really good Yoga practitioner who understands Yoga for rehabilitation purposes and have them guide you closely.

Go slow,

Video of cystoscope

Post by calguy »

Found this on YouTube.com. I was curious what my uro actually saw. I remember him saying that he saw red inflammation on my prostate. A few people stated there is no way he could see the prostate via scope. Wish his video equipment was working when I had mine would have been interesting to see. They perform TURP with a scope I believe so they must be able to see prostate. First link explains what your looking at pretty good.

I remember not wanting to look at the screen. I wouldn't of known what I was seing any way. All I know is my uro saying no strictures and the prostatic ducts were"wide open" and my bladder was normal. So it was helpful for me to move on and go full force into my protocol.

Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

They can see the ends of the ducts and the prostatic urethra. As for ops on the prostate, once they get to the bladder neck they know the previous ±xmm is prostate.

I added another link carld which is interesting as he explains what your looking at.(first one) I know what you mean about not knowing what your looking at, but it always bothered me that Dr. Wise and some people on site stated that there was no way he could see prostate with scope. I was just wondering if this uro was just telling me something to get me out of office. I would usually always get second opinion on any medical issue but not going to go through that again. I guess he may have been able to see some inflammation on the ducts? Also wondered if how what we eat and drink can efect prostate if it is not exposed to urine. If you couldnt see prostate through urethra then how could it? I guess it would go in the ducts?

They cannot see the prostate, only the lining of the urethra as it passes through the prostate.

My pelvis shakes sometimes. This usually happens when I am watching a fight that is important to me and I am excited. I realize its not good that my pelvis is shaking. It is likely the pelvis because it is the center of gravity for my body sort of, so it is really my whole body shaking. My point is be glad it is just your hands and you do not have to perform surgery to feed your children.

It may be less likely that you are tensing your pelvic muscles if your hands are shaking and your pelvis is not (less likely than me I mean).
