Muscular & joint pain

Post by markus6 »

First time writing to this forum but here goes. I have constant muscular pain and joint pain, which seems to get worse after a night of drinking. My testicles ache often.

I have done Cipro, Ofloxacin and all the rest. It seems that things have become worse over the past few months. I exercise regularly, eat well and am generally healthy. Advil seems to be the only thing that helps me feel better.

My Uro says I need to keep on the antibiotics for as long as it takes.

Any advice from anyone. Does anyone have similar symptoms?

Which joints? Are some worse than others? Do the joint pains move around (migratory)?

thanks for replying. The joints pain is in my knees and does migrate from one to the other. Generally the muscular pain is in my lower legs and buttocks.

Any advice?

Ask your doctor to do a blood test and test your Sed rate. It's a way to see if you have systemic inflammation going on. It's typically between 0 and 15. If a lot higher this can point to things like arthritis. A blood test can rule this out.

Markus, I also had a lot of joint pain when symptoms were at their worst, specifically in my left knee, but also in other joints. I actually thought I had Reiter's (reactive arthritis), but tests were negative and my doctors said no. When the immune system is riled up, as happens for some of us when the HPA-axis is goosed, pro-inflammatory chemicals can cause a migratory arthralgia. My left knee was the worst because I'd damaged it playing football.

My doc did a Sed rate test and told me all was normal. I did all the tests. Nothing. The Uro did a prostate fluid test and found lots of white blood cells.

I have been battling this for over 10 months and am at my wits end. Any suggestions?

The joint pain is just one of many symptoms - ache in the testicles, muscular pain generally, burning in the lower legs & feet, fatigue.

There must be some way to get better - help!

One thing that's helped with muscular aches for me is to get a weekly sports massage by a very good therapist. She works me over from head to toe and stretches muscles as she goes. Afterwards, I feel loose and relaxed. I also found that using a foam roller each night along with the stretches helps keep the muscular aches down a lot. I was surprised how much a good sports/deep tissue massage helps with loosening up muscles.

One other thing you can also do is to ask your doc for a vitamin panel (blood test) that checks the b-complex series and folic acid at the minimum. Vit B12 & Folic acid deficiencies can cause/exacerbate muscle pain. If so, he would start you on a good vit b-complex vitamin and/or give you vit b12 injections depending on the severity.

Markus,

I am dealing with the same thing. I almost feel like I have CFS. My buttocks, back of legs, calfs, shoulders, triceps all ache. From the lower part of my shins down to the tops of my feet burn. When I lay in bed, I can almost feel the muscles spasm in the pelvic area. I also suffer from the mild fever and feeling too warm, and just overall general malaise.

It's almost like my body thinks there is some infection, but I don't think there is. I also have the golf ball feeling, and I have the ache and tingling pain in the family jewels.

However, it has gotten a little better. Two months ago I was googling for Dr. Kevorkian's phone number. At least now, I am seeing minor improvement. I have just ordered "the book" and hope to learn about stretching and relaxation techniques.

Joint pain

Post by Richie »

First of all, some of the worst joint pain I ever had on this awful excursion was caused by the levaquin and Cipro I was taking like candy. This crap caused more long term damage than the CPPS. This took 4-6 months to recover from!

Secondly, in my case, I have reactions to food with my immune system, specifically wheat intolerance. Almost always , when I eat something not allowed or drink a beer, the joints are the first indication. Whatever your immune system is chasing somehow ends up affecting/gathering in the joints.

I am not a Dr but read this board and most likely you will decide to be off the antibiotics soon.
