My Living Hell
I'm a 31 yr old male. On Jan 2, 2003, I started having a deep in ache in my groin area. I waited for around three weeks before I seen a doctor because I figured that I probably just had a groin strain. Needless to say, when I did finally see my family doctor he quickly diagnosed me with Prostatitis. He seemed quite confident that the Cipro that he prescribed my would take care of my problem. After a 28 day course of Cipro I still had no relief. My symptoms actually got worse. I then seen a specialist who prescribed a 30 day course of Doxycyclin to no avail. My primary pain is in the rectal area, where I feel extreme pressure, irritation, and burning. Bowel movements are ususally painful, and irritate my condition. This disease has destroyed my life over the last few months. I have'nt had a pain free day in months. My quality of life has drasitcally diminished. I've become extremely depressed and have even considered suicide a few times. I can't imagine living the rest of my life with this pain. It affects every avenue of my life. I'm certainly glad that I found this forum today. I feel like now that there may be hope. I actually spoke with my doctor today, and we discussed a new therapy of the drug Flomax. Though I have no actual proof of this, I believe my prostatitis is NOT bacterial. I'm praying that the Flomax will ease my prostate spasms, and finally give me some relief. Now that I have found this place, I will keep my progress reported, at the least, on a weekly basis.

Well, good luck! It's often very bad in the beginning, but lets up over time (years).
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

It can work REALLY quickly, so if it works for you you may experience some relief in a couple of days. It was like that for me.I'm praying that the Flomax will ease my prostate spasms, and finally give me some relief.

Check out the stuff on the site about muscle spasm and treatment. As you are getting anal area pain, the levator ani and coxygeal muscles may be involved. Check with your doctor if a muscle relaxant like lorazepam may help ou through the rough spot. Also, try to find a myofascial release therapist.

I'd agree with this 100%. Get yourself checked out for pelvic floor muscle spasm/levator ani syndrome by someone who knows what they are doing. I too had a terrible QOL up until December last year, and also had severe rectal/anal and coccygeal pain. I was then diagnosed as having a severe case of pelvic floor muscle spasm. Since undergoing myofascial release treatment for this, my condition and QOL have improved markedly. I'm not saying that this will definately help you, but as the above post states, you should definitely be assessed for pelvic floor dysfunction.Michael in Boston wrote:Check out the stuff on the site about muscle spasm and treatment.
