Do internal tools need a flared base?

Post by boulder »

I'm posting this in relation to two tools for intra-rectal massage that were mentioned on here earlier. I can't find the original post, but these are the tools in question:

I am considering using these to try to get at hard-to-reach internal trigger points on my anterior levator ani, but I'm concerned about it because everything I've read related to anal health always empasizes that anything you insert in the anus should have a "flange or flared base so that you don't lose it inside yourself and wind up in the ER."

Neither of the two tools above have a flared base, hence my concern. What do you all think? Suggestions, alternatives?

Both are so large that you'd have to be doing something really weird to get them lost inside your rectum. People have been using them, particularly the first one, for ages without reporting a problem.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

I have been using the second one. My main source of pain is coming from an area that's is about 7 inches in, so I pretty much stick the whole thing in. I couldn't imagine being able to get to it with the first one. I dont think I could lose the thing cause there is always the cap sticking out which is what I use to direct pressure. I taped a piece of plastic the the end so I know which way the tip is pointing. You would think I would know that, but you would be wrong.
Age: 26 | Onset Age: 20 | Symptoms: Used to be pain around the base of the penis, now I have golf ball in rectum feeling that can be very painful. | Helped By: kegal exercise/biofeedback (fixed ejaculation pain), antiinflamatory drugs, warm baths (intermediate term relief), hamstring stretching (very short term relief), the biggest being stress management | Worsened By: Stress, Standing for long periods, ejaculating used to make it worse, but not anymore

I've had a lot of luck w/ the second purple 7" one. It has a bent tip which is perfect to hit leverage into trigger points. As suggested above you should do something to be able to tell where the tip is pointing, for myself I used a kitchen knife to etch a line at the bottom where I hold it that lines up w/ the tip. I also etched a line around the circumference at 4.5 inches which I keep another finger on. This is so that I don't go in too deep and damage something. The crystal wand seems too large and without a directional tip so it seems like it would be more cumbersome and awkward than helpful. I never thought I'd get used to sticking objects up my butt and administering massive amounts of pain to myself. Ah, how humbling life can be.

I'm bumping this because I finally ordered the 7" purple one and it helps a TON. Not crazy about the idea of it, but hey, no shame in getting better.

It does work well mainly because it allows me to completely relax and still hit the trigger point, whereas before to get the ones pretty darn far up in the pelvis on either side of the prostate I had to really strain and stress and that wasn't allowing it to release.

It takes a few times with it, MattK suggestions of lines help so you know which way the pointer is at any given time. I've been getting some great relief from this.

It's been another step in the right direction to being completely done with this chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome thing. Great suggestion, wish I had broken down and tried it sooner.

Regards,
