My first visit was a couple of weeks ago and the next one this monday(4 days ago).. The office is on 46 and 5 not far from the times square, close to all subways..
First off, need to mention that last 2 of my other doctor visits I had to wait close to 2 hours in the docs reception room..Nothing like that with Dr. Futterman, both times less than 5 minutes waiting time before she saw me..
They didn't take my insurance, but at least they tried to.. I think I can afford paying $180 once a week at least for a couple of months...comes to like $1000 for 6 sessions which is not really that much money.. And you do need a prescription from your regular doctor, but they said they'd take care of it over the phone... Also, I learned from my mistake, should have listened to the reception person, if you go you should schedule like 5 appointments in a row, cos Dr. Futterman says you need to see her at least once a week and it's very hard to get an appointment with her.. But I kept calling their office and eventually they had some cancellations or something and I was able to schedule a apt every week..
I thought Dr. Futterman was an older lady but she actually looks like she is in her late 20s and very good looking. And she makes you very comfortable during her work, Both times she was working on me with another therapist Kim, very relaxed atmosphere..
Ok, my first visit, she didn't do any internal work, just examined my posture and external muscles and discussed my symptoms and everything, .. right off she said I have a very bad sitting posture.. and that I need to work on that.. Stacy kept mentioning the internet, it seemed to me she was used to all the internet people who come to see her.. I remember her saying something that all people on the discussion boards are not the same and each have problems with their own different pelvic muscles.. Once again, said keep the posture - no slouching - like when sitting on the couch and so.. said maybe to use a back support cushion when sitting and let me borrow one from her.. I was given a pair of shorts for external work and some sort of thing to keep me covered for internal..
The whole second visit she started off with working on my muscles for the whole duration pretty much. I made sure I was wearing clean socks and too some anti-gas pills this time... LOL .. She connected some wires to my muscles and I could actually see all the graphs on the computer screen as she was working on me...Said that my stomach and internal pevic muscles were very tight, but that I had good control of them.. did some skin rolling on my stomach and then the internal work.. Both were a bit painful, but not too painful, I didn't get any sharp through the roof pain like people said here, and was pretty much comfortable the whole time...
I know this is very inappropriate and I shoudlnt say it but at some point I couldnt help but recall that "Roadtrip" movie where the guy a prostate massage from a hot nurse...
Another point of interest, my anus area was very sensitive, I often have discomfort there, especially after bowel movements.. I though that after getting internal work it would be irritated like hell, but for some reason it had the opposite effect it's been 4 days, and I have no sign of any discomfort in that area...
Once again, let me say, that Stacy said my internal muscles were in a very tight state and so was my stomach..
Stacy gave me a printout of stretched to do and said I could get a flare up following this visit, but I didn't get any.. In fact I think I'm feeling better now, but I guess it's too early to say.. I was expecting that after the internal work I'd be in pain and have a hard time getting back home(about a 45 min subway ride and 15 mins walking) but I felt very good actually , no pain at all. Was planning to go home and relax on the couch but actually called a friend for drinks afterwards instead of going home..
Anyway, I'm very glad I went and looking forward to my next appointment!
I will let you know how it goes..
ok.. Had my first 2 visits to Dr. Stacy Futterman

OK, too lazy to change my signature, but my sympoms have improved significantly, some went away competely. Old sig below.
Age: 27 | Onset Age: 23 | Symptoms: differ from year to year, anal/buttocks pain(especially when moving around/walking), burning when pee every once in a while, muscle tightness after peeing, sometimes but rarely burning after,, but no urgency , i pee about 4-5 times a day. Stomach bloating, hard to pass gas, occasional sharp pain in right side lower abs.
Helped By: alcohol(maybe i am wrong about this one,, helps some symtoms, possibly makes other symptoms worse), water, Beer always cures urethra pains/burning.
| Worsened By: showers, defecation, massage?, stress, winter, early spring, Snapple diet iced tea?.
Makes no difference: sitting(try putting something under back legs of your chair to tilt it slightly), masturbation(2-3 times a day usually),(update, now down to 1-2 times a day), used to ride bike without a seat on for 4 hours some days 3-4 days a week- no problem, spicy foods - no problem, 3-4 cups of black tea a day- no problem

I'm not familiar with your past case, nor this PT, but I'm glad it was positive and looks to be helpful. Keep at it.

Dr Futterman
So I tried to make an appointment with Dr futterman in NYC but she is on vacatoin until november 14. They set me up with someone named Kim Van Liempd, or something like that. I was told they work together in teams of 3. Does anyone have experience with Kim?
Also, I am having horrible pain in my lower back, hips, coccyx and rectum. Is this common?

yeah, I saw her there and she was present during my first 2 appointments.. They tried to switch my Stacey apointments to her but since Stacey was the one I read people say good things about online, she was the one I wanted to see, besides how do you have two people work on you at the same time ? just explaining my condition took like a couple of visits.. and I had to make my apointments like 3 weeks in advance anyway cos she was always booked up...
I can tell you the first thing they will tell you is to work on your posture, both walking and sitting.. it wasn't as easy for me but I think it helped a lot.. no slouching or couches or armchairs or pillows... sit straight..

I've had my 4th appt with Stacy and her colleague Lori and although I think it's wayyyy to early to call this a "success story" I must say my pain is really really low.
It's always been the post ejac pain that is really the worst of it but she says she's helped lots of guys like me so I'm being patient and hoping that she will help me get rid of this once and for all.

Age:37 | Onset Age: 35 | Symptoms: pain in testicles that comes and goes that also switches sides-trying to find a pattern as to "why" this happens/Rectal Burn at the 6 O'clock position at my anus which tends to flare around the periphery of my anus typically after defication but no perineum pain-no "golf ball" pain. Pain in testicles worsens as I sit but not always...Pain is not always present but depresses me. Pain used to be at a very high level but has subsided in time to a low level but has not gone away. Pain used to flare after sex but not as much as before although it still like playing russian roulette./
/Lack of SleepHelped By: I haven't found anything that has helped to my knowledge. Tried many many sessions of PT, accupuncture and chiropractic care but still have not found steady relief that takes me back to a pre CPPS state.

I encourage anxiety prone UCPPS people to consider L-Theanine
Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

i'm doing better now too... one of the very importnt things was my sitting posture... She said sit on a relative hard chair , no cushions or nothing,,feet flat on the floor, dont lean back or slouch (i think leaning back in the chair was causing these sharp pains and tightness all around my tailbone area, which are gone now..).. Start working on your posture, its not as easy as it seems....

I've been in the chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome game for 2yrs now...
In reading the profile of the people who post, you'll find that this effects most everyone in differnt ways and different parts of the body.
Some guys have perineum pain...some don't.
Some have pain while the urinate....some don't.
Some have painful balls of fire....some don't.
Some guys pee 30x a day....some pee with normal frequency

Re: Dr Futterman
Once again I was told by 2 PTs that improper sitting posture , lounging on the couch, low seats, sitting on pillows, donut cushions, crossing feet(or not having them flat on the floor), slouching in chairs is often the source of those pains.. Since I started sitting properly a lot of similar pains I was having went away.. Sitting straight felt wierd at frist, felt like it was putting pressure on the painful spots, but after a short while I got used and it worked for me..decal2 wrote:What about lots of pain in the hips low back and coccyx...anyone experience that?
