Quercetin = Pain? Chronic Bacterial Prostatitis?

Post by achamasi »

For those of you who don't know me I literally look at urine and urine cultures for a living.

For the past year I have suffered from Prostatitis. Every single test and culture I've done (and I've done a whole lot) has turned up negative. I was beginning to think I fit into the Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol profile. Last week I started taking any accredited quercetin product or however you spell it. This past weekend I also did weights (and did a few too many solo sessions). One monday needless to say I was (and still am) feeling like I am wanting to die. It feels like sandpaper in my prostate, so me, being the curious person that I am...I did another urinalysis.

Now heres the question, is Quercetin supposed to clear up whatever gunk is stuck in the prostate/urethra? Because my urine was not only positive for protein, it had a buttload of gunk as well as a moderate amount of bacteria. This gunk, mind you, could have been anything from protein, to clumps of bacteria, to...well anything. The thing was though it didn't look like it was an open and shut case infection. That is to say it was mostly just gunk and some bacteria (and yes I did clean, void, pee).

Anyways, a urine culture is in the works and I did speak to and "see" a Doctor. She suggested (and I had already thought this as well) that we should wait for positive cultures before she starts throwing antibiotics at me since....

1. 3 months of Cipro didn't work
2. Undiscriminatory use of antibiotics could help build up the resistance and...
3. Some antibiotics dont kill but simply stop bacteria from growing. This could lead to a false sense of being "cured".

Anyways, I just took two tylenols and some Pyridium. I still think I may have not only chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome but it definitely could be just an infection.

Pray for me :(

I had irritation causing the same results. Not necessarily infection related. When I had 3-6 months of antibiotics, people on this board rightly told me to immediately cease since most infections are relieved by the antibiotics in 1-3 days!!

I had quite a bit of subsequent joint pain and stomach problems from overdoing the antibiotics so be careful.

Interesting....Need to wait for the culture for sure...

Quercetin and any accredited quercetin product are supposed to help clear out the prostate so you may be seeing puss cells or white cells that I think are the source of your inflammation, not infection. That's why it's important to clear the prostate 2 times a week. Really seems like a persistent state of inflammation going on here. Hang in there...

Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

The Quercetin suppliers products do allow the accumulated trapped secretions to drain. It's interesting to hear you confirm that microscopically.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

Well, they're definitely not white cells or puss cells. If they're not bacteria or calcification of bacteria they could be protein, or just trapped gunk.
