Advice on symptoms (TJ88 case)
Advice on symptoms (TJ88 case)
I am a new member just wanted to say hello. I am 20 years old and have had this for about almost a year maybe. Heres my situation so far if anyone has direct advice to offer. I believe I contracted chronic prostatitis after a sexual encounter. was prescribed antibiotics for several months, eventually most symptoms got better. However I get relapses that are very bad. I currently just started taking some herbal remedies from GNC. Including zinc, saw palmetto, pumpkin seed, pygeum bark.
My symptoms are pressure on the prostate area, increased urination frequency(around every 1 1/2 to 2 hours). Burning itchy sensation in urethra, pain from ejaculation, and loss of control of ejaculation.(really frustrating for my sex life, never was a problem before.)
Does anyone have any advice for me for to help with any of my symptoms, pain wise or sex life wise? Any help is great my confidence and quality of life has been smashed by this problem.
Really emphasis on premature ejaculation that one really upsets me. Tips for this?

You say sexual encounter brought on prostatitis, if that is true you should have had some sort of infection show up from a piss test or DRE, if one was given. So what were the results?
If there wasn't an infection found, its very common for the first round of ABs, to stop the pain for a bit, they are also anti inflammatory in nature.
Need a little more info.
No tips I have for pre mature ejaculation other than the ole jerking off prior to the date that night, lol. But, that assume you know you are going to get lucky, or you can just assume you are.

I figured as much, very typical. Many men think they got an infection from a partner that started this, but there was no sign of infection. My guess is the sex sent the syptoms into full speed, but they were most likley brewing for a while.TJ88 wrote:well it seems sexual encounter started it. But tests were negative for infection. It seems to get worse after sexual encounters(orally)
Read up on the forum, there is plenty here to help you. My guess is you have tight pelvic muscles up and around your prostate area.
Digest some of the info here, there is no magic bullet, youll need to learn stretches, relaxation and see a PT that is trained in pelvic floor musculature.
Good Luck,

That's right...Good advise
I agree on the old crank one out before you hook up so you can bang like crazy and not premie....This stuff is usually a mental thing, sooooo....You can try thinking of your laundry or something, that should do. Also clench your fist real tight and focus on that. That can help as well. Just don't clench your pelvis

I encourage anxiety prone UCPPS people to consider L-Theanine
Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

The physiological act of sexual intercourse can trigger a latent problem with CPPS. There does not need to be an infection. We do not know exactly why sex makes problems worse (although muscle contraction probably has something to do with it, in addition to a strain on the nerves).

bathroom irregularities?
Just curious if this is a possible symptom of CPPS. I eat a lot of foods (also liquid proteins (I'm building muscle in the gym 3 days a week). I noticed though, I often have very soft stool. Does anyone else have soft stool possibly of CPPS, or is it more likely my diet?

What happens if you stop taking your gym food? Does it get better?
IBS (loose stools or constipation) with chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome is pretty common according to Dr. Wise. I have both myself. Many of us use pain med. I use tylenol 3 (has codiene) when I am in pain, because it also constipates me to stop the Diahhrea as well as helps with the pain.
Some other things to look at for "soft stools"
1. Dont eat too much food in one sitting. Eat till your stomach is 2/3rd's full.
2. Try adding more fiber. You can fiber pills these days. Take them, and dont take too much water with them (but you need some).
3. Try some digestive enzymes. Health food stores sell these. These are the actual enzymes you need to digest protien, fat, carbs, milk, etc etc. Comes in pills. Usually fairly cheap.
4. Eat at a regular time of day. I know it seems simple, but it helps.
gluck!

Horribly depressed
I'm 21 years old, because of prostatitis I am massively depressed. I don't know what to do anymore, i've done everything there is to be done. I'm still in discomfort I can barely make it to my breaks at work, or through a whole class without having to urinate. The pain gets very bad still. My sexual life is destroyed. My erections are bleak, and I cannot control my ejaculation. I feel like my sexual life is gone. I don't pursue girls anymore. They flirt with me and I just walk away knowing I am an embarrassment to myself.. Where do I turn? Am I condemned to this forever? Its slowly breaking me down in all my aspects of life.. I am going back on antidepressants in october.. only time I can get an appointment. I don't think this will help enough to make me feel good about myself again. What can I do, can anyone help me?

There have been quite a few young men of your age who have posted here, and they all moved on when they learned how to control this. What have you tried so far?

TJ88 I know how you feel. I got chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome (prostatitis) when I just turned 20 and still at University. Sitting through lectures and tutorials was a nightmare for me. I can also empathise when you talk about girls flirting with you and not being able to act on it.
There is a way out of this though. I had a quick look through your posts and you haven't mentioned having physiotherapy for your pelvic floor. Arranging an appointment with a physio trained in treating pelvic floor dysfunction is the first thing you should do. Once you do that you will understand what is wrong with you. I think the scariest thing for me when I was at Uni was being in pain and not having a clue what was wrong with me.
In terms of the weak erections problem try not to worry about this either. I believe this is definitely caused by having too tight pelvic floor muscles. I had very weak erections for about two years and after a year of physio they are fine now, which my girlfriend can testify too! I noticed a gradual improvement over the course of the physio.
I am not pain free yet but intend to get there by continuing with physio, stretching and relaxing.
You also said you walk away from girls feeling like an embarrassment to yourself. Never feel this way about yourself, you are coping with a tough illness at a young age. Be proud that you are keeping going and posting on this forum to find out more information.

I am not pain free yet but my erections are fine now. As I said in my previous post as my pelvic floor muscles began to improve my erections became stronger. If you find a physio that can do trigger point work on the pelvic floor ( unfortunetly they are n't in great supply) I think you will find that your erections will return to normal. Do not panic about it , it is n't permanent.
I should point out that not everyone in this field belives in the link between a helathy pelvic floor and strong erections. However judging from my own experience I would suggest there is such a link.
Also before I started physio and knew anything about the Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol I tried out prozac for a few months. This had a very adverse affect on my erections
By the way Jef I noticed you seemed to be having a tough time a few days ago so I pm you. Hope you got the message.
